Hope you’re all doing well. Today’s post is about a few unique and amazing ways in which you can use your hair conditioner to get some great results out of it. Most of us tend to look at conditioner as a hair care product with only a limited number of uses and benefits. However, once you are acquainted with the many ways in which you can use your conditioner, you will realize that not only is this a multi-purpose product with a host of benefits, but also that it can prove to be much more effective than it already is. You could start with any conditioner of your choice and take a look at what these nine conditioner hacks are.
1. You can use your conditioner as a styling product:
Instead of washing off all the conditioner from your hair, try leaving a little bit of it on. Also make sure to rinse off your hair with cold water. A little bit of conditioner in your hair can keep it soft, smooth, tame and frizz-free, which is pretty much what a serum or styling product would do for your hair.
2. You can make your own leave-in conditioner:
Don’t want to purchase a leave-in conditioner separately? No problem. All you need to do is take your regular conditioner and add some water to it. Mix until blended well. Transfer this mixture into a spray bottle and use this as a leave-in conditioner. This is especially useful in the winter season when you might need conditioning on the go without necessarily standing under a shower!
3. Apply conditioner before you shampoo:
This is another hack that is handy for the winter season. Shampoo can really dry out your hair, so it is a good idea to conditioner your hair before you shampoo. This will keep some moisture intact. After you finish shampooing, you could follow it up with another round of conditioning. This will make your hair look and feel noticeably softer and smoother.
4. You should always comb through your hair with conditioner on:
Another tip that makes all the difference in my hair care routine is to comb or brush my hair after I have applied my conditioner. It’s important to do this while still in the shower. This makes sure that your conditioner is evenly distributed in your hair and the conditioner nourishes each strand. It also ensures that you end up leaving the conditioner on for a few minutes longer.
5. Leave your conditioner on for as long as possible:
This brings me to the next point—don’t be in a hurry to wash your conditioner off. Make sure to leave it on for at least 3-5 minutes, if not longer. While the conditioner is in your hair, you could go ahead and shave, wash your body etc.
6. Use your conditioner to shave:
Speaking of shaving, your conditioner makes for an excellent substitute for shaving cream or gel. If you’ve run out of a shaving product, try using conditioner instead. This will leave your skin feeling incredibly soft and will do the job very well.
7. Substitute your hair mask for a regular conditioner:
If you need the benefits of a hair mask but don’t want to invest in one, then you could use your conditioner as the same. Just apply it all over your hair and leave it on for an hour or two (or even overnight) before rinsing it off.
8. Always remember to condition only the ends:
It’s important to remember that only the mid-lengths to the ends of your hair need conditioning. The hair on top of your head gets all the nourishment it needs from the scalp and is therefore less prone to damage. Applying conditioner there will weigh your hair down and make it greasy. Focus the application of the product only where it’s really needed.
9. DIY your own conditioner with oils:
Olive oil and coconut oil are known to work miracles for the hair. If you’re out of conditioner and need a product that replenishes your hair, use one of these oils for the same benefit.
