In today’s post I will talk about a wonder oil called tea tree oil. Most of you must have heard about this oil, but how many of you are actually knowledgeable about its numerous benefits?
For starters, tea tree is also known as melaleuca and tea tree oil is derived mainly from the Australian native plant Melaleuca alternifolia which is well-known for its powerful antiseptic properties. But, that’s not all as tea tree oil has various other benefits too. Let’s get into the details in this post.
1. For Acne
The oil contains soothing properties that help to calm the burning and itching of a flare-up on your skin. Tea tree oil is used in many skin care products, as it is considered one of the most effective home remedies for acne. For a homemade acne face wash, start by mixing five drops of pure tea tree essential oil with two teaspoons of raw honey. Simply rub this mixture on your face, leave on for a minute, and then rinse it off. You can also use a drop of tea tree oil with a tiny bit of coconut oil and apply on your face with a cotton ear bud. This will clear up your pores which will destroy any pimple causing bacteria.
2. For Scalp and Hair Health
Tea tree oil is beneficial for the health of both your scalp and hair. It can be used in many ways on your hair and scalp. If you suffer from dry and itchy scalp or have dandruff and hair fall issues, then tea tree oil is the best way to go. To make homemade tea tree oil shampoo, mix few drops of tea tree essential oil with aloe vera gel, coconut milk and few drops of lavender oil. Use this mixture on your scalp and then wash off after few minutes. Do it twice a week to notice a considerable difference in your hair quality.
3. For Psoriasis and Eczema
Tea tree oil can helps in relieving any type of skin inflammation. It can be used to treat eczema naturally and even to reduce psoriasis. To get rid of irritation, you just need to mix five drops of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of coconut oil and five drops of lavender oil and apply on the affected area 2-3 times a week to notice a difference.
4. For Toenail Fungus and Ringworm
Tea tree oil has ability to kill parasites and fungal infections. So, it is a great choice to use on toenail fungus, athlete’s foot and ringworm. Just put undiluted tea tree oil on the affected area using a clean cotton swab. Leave it on for some time and wash off. Repeat this process whenever needed.
5. For Strengthening Nails
Tea tree oil is a strong antiseptic which can fight fungal infections and can also help treat yellow or discoloured nails. Mix half a table spoon of vitamin E oil with few drops of tea tree oil. Rub the solution on your nails and massage for a few minutes. Leave it on your nails like this for 15-20 minutes and rinse the mixture off with lukewarm water. Do it every 15 days and you will notice a change in your nail’s texture.
6. For Foot Blisters
Tea tree oil has antibacterial and astringent properties which work great in the treatment of foot blisters. Take 1 part tea tree oil and mix it with 3 parts plain water. Using a clean cotton ball, gently apply this solution to the affected area. Leave it on for about 10 minutes, and then rinse with cold water. Repeat this process daily for a few days.
7. For Treating Vaginal Odour
Tea tree oil can help eliminate vaginal odour with few days of usage. You just have to mix a few drops of tea tree oil with water. Apply a drop or two to the outer area of your vagina. Do it for 3 to 5 days and you might feel a difference. If you feel any itching or discomfort then don’t go ahead with it and consult a doctor.
8. For Eliminating Foot Odour
If you want nice smelling feet, then you can make a homemade foot powder to use on your feet as well in the insides of your shoes. To make it, mix one-quarter cup cornstarch, one-quarter cup baking soda and 10 drops each of tea tree oil and lavender oil. Use this mixture to powder your feet whenever necessary.
9. For Oral Health
Tea tree oil has ability to kill off bad bacteria and at the same time soothe inflamed skin. Simply mix few drops of tea tree oil with coconut oil and baking soda for DIY homemade toothpaste. Use this mixture to rinse your mouth to kill off bad bacteria from your mouth.
10. For Infections and Cuts
Tea tree oil works wonders for infections and cuts as it has various healing properties. Just mix a few drops of this miracle working oil with some water and apply it on the affected area. It also helps with itchy allergic skin and heals cuts and burns.
11. For Dry Skin
Just mix 4-5 drops of tea tree oil with almond oil and apply on your skin. Take a warm shower afterwards and don’t forget to moisturize. You will definitely wake up with baby soft skin in the morning.
12. For Controlling Body Odour
This one is a must do if you suffer from body odour as tea tree oil has antimicrobial properties that destroy the bacteria on your skin that causes body odour. Use tea tree oil, coconut oil and baking soda together in a spray can as a homemade deodorant.
Tea tree oil is a very strong oil, so use it carefully and try to dilute it before using. Hope this helps.
