Skin tone: Fair-light with yellow-neutral undertones
Hope all of you are enjoying the month of April; we are experiencing a slightly hotter April this year. Summers remind me of the refreshing coral pink color. I am not getting over pink madness this year hence, I invested in one more gorgeous plum pink lip product from Anastasia Beverly Hills. This is a part of their newly launched liquid lipsticks. I find these lipsticks pretty decent for the price and for other points though I have my own share of disappointments with this particular product. So let’s read more about Catnip, a soft plum liquid lipstick, today!
What it is:
A long-lasting, full-coverage matte lipstick in liquid form.
What it does:
Liquid Lipstick’s ultra-saturated liquid formula delivers an intense amount of matte pigment in a single swipe. Just one application leaves lips with smear-resistant coverage that stays put for hours.

My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Catnip Liquid Lipstick:
The liquid lipstick comes in a sturdy transparent plastic tube packaging with a beautiful and shiny golden cap attached to doe foot sponge applicator. The flexible sponge applicator helps in delivering even color payoff with precise lining effect even on the edges. It does have a mild and pleasant smell which subsides soon after application. Overall, I find it pretty user-friendly and travel-friendly.
My shade “Catnip” is defined as a soft plum shade which seems true to its description; you can also call it a muted magenta plum color as it appears to be a magenta pink on my lips. It is a fully opaque liquid lipstick, good enough for pigmented lips and the color itself is so soft and wearable on my pale skin. It is so unlike those bright bold magentas that scream for attention. I feel confident enough to pull this shade in broad daylight and it brings a lovely glow to my skin tone.
However, I am in two minds about its formula and finish on my lips as I feel the finish becomes dry over a period of time which can certainly emphasize our minor dry patches as well as minute lip lines. Like, after a couple of hours, I start to notice a slightly uneven texture on my lips; this might be tricky for very dry lips. Considering it is a matte lipstick, it becomes drier within a couple of hours. Now I am not much concerned about the dryness, but it feels slightly tacky too in finish. This tackiness stays on for like an hour or so, and this is something I would not expect from my lip color.
Thankfully, after an hour of wear time, the sticky and tackiness away, but I am not sure if applying a balm or a primer would help. Leaving aside the disappointments, I am happy to see a nicely spreadable formula of this liquid lipstick. The formula easily adheres to the lips with it lip-hugging finish. It has a wet consistency which gives a lightweight, seamless and non-patchy finish on the lips for a couple of hours. It will soon start showing its matte nature on normal-dry lips, but nothing to be concerned about at this point.
I see a smooth, non-cakey and semi-wet finish on my lips with a subtle plumping effect initially, which then dries to a matte finish in few minutes. It, then, stays (more or less) comfortable on lips for several hours. It does seem to be smudge proof and water proof up to some extent, not completely, though. But I am glad to see that it does not accentuate dryness on my lips further. Surprisingly the formula is decently forgiving for normal dry lips, but I am assuming that it is non-suitable for dry and chapped lips.
I feel wearing this shade is all about playing head and tails game for me, like if I am experiencing “good lips days”, then I see a long lasting and seamless finish. However, on “bad lip days”, it might fade in patches within 4-5 hours as it does transfer to everything it comes in contact with. I often see chipping on such days.
It stays put for good 5+ hours, surviving light tea and coffee breaks and snacks in between though I would suggest a complete re-application after a heavy meal as the finish might be tricky. It does leave a soft stain behind, which will require a makeup remover at the end of the day. I think wearing a lip primer is a must with this formula; needless to mention, wear it over well scrubbed and hydrated lips. Overall, I am convinced with these matte lipsticks though I am not sure if I will get these again.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Anastasia Beverly Hills Catnip Liquid Lipstick:
• A light-weight and soft wearable magenta plum liquid lipstick
• Complete color payoff with smooth and non-flaky finish
• Does not smudge or transfer
• Formula can forgive mild dry patches
• Never felt over drying on lips
• Does not accentuate or aggravate dryness
• Stays put for good 5+ hours
• A completely matte formula with non-flaky & non-patchy finish
• User-friendly, pocket-friendly and travel-friendly
Cons of Anastasia Beverly Hills Catnip Liquid Lipstick:
• The finish seems tacky for initial few hours
• Becomes drier over the period of time
• Has the tendency to emphasize lip lines and dry patches
• Fades in uneven patches
Well, I am neither head over heels with this lipstick nor do I completely dislike it. Whatsoever, it will require a lip primer and a balm for public events. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
