Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Singles Intense Gaze Review

Hello ladies,

Time for another Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow singles review 😛 I am quite enamoured by her formula though it doesn’t seem consistent across the line. I think the formula seems to have changed quite a bit over time, to reach the point of Modern Renaissance palette – or even the Mario Master Palette. However, let’s dig in to this one and see how “Intense Gaze” performed.

My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Singles Intense Gaze:

Packaging:  The shadows come individually packaged in a plastic sleeve – like a refill packaging. The same is then enclosed in a cardboard cover which has the product name and ingredients mentioned on it. Apart from that, the name is also mentioned on the flip side of the eyeshadow itself. I thing the packaging is excellent, not a single eyeshadow was shattered upon arrival. The metal pans are easy to pop into a magnetic palette – like a Z palette. Alternatively, you can also pick a empty palette from the ABH site.

Shade:  The shade “Intense Gaze” is a medium warm dusty pink with a pearly sheen. It actually translates a tad bit darker on the skin than it seems in the pan because the sheen visible in the pan makes it seem more muted. I wasn’t too keen on picking this shade, it definitely wasn’t part of my initial shortlist but when shades like Henna, Morocco were sold out, I decided to look at some other shades instead. Having used it, I kind of like the color. Even though it is pink, it’s not the girly pink shade, it is a bit like a dirty pink or coppery pink which suits our warm skin tones very well and is fairly easy to pull off in a look. In both the LOTDs that I have shared, I have used the color in the inner half of the lid.

Texture: The texture is buttery smooth, quite like the shade “Sangria.” It feels a tad bit dense when used with the brush. With finger, it doesn’t seem as dense. Either way, it does not emphasise texture on the skin. It is very easy to get onto the brush and then transfer onto the lid, but the texture is slightly dusty, so unless you tap the brush before applying, it will result in fall out.

Pigmentation: The shade has excellent pigmentation. It takes very little effort to apply and show up true to pan.

Staying Power:  I apply my eyeshadow over a primer because my lids are way too oily. The shimmer shades start to crease and becoming mushy. This shade gave about 8 hours of wear time before showing signs of fading. With a primer, it does not crease on me.

Pros of Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Singles Intense Gaze:

  • A very interesting dirty coppery pink with a sheen.
  • Excellent pigmentation.
  • It does not emphasise texture of my skin.
  • Decent wear time – with primer – about 8 hours.
  • Buttery smooth texture.

Cons of Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Singles Intense Gaze:

  • It kicks up a little dust which can result in fall out unless the brush is tapped before application of the shade.

IMBB Rating:
4/5

I find the shade very easy to use and can be a nice variation to a neutral eye without going all out. All said and done, I do find ABH shadows a tad bit expensive at $12 considering that there are so many Indie brands now which are doing good quality shadows at better price.
