I have been dying to try out the Anastasia Glow Kits. I picked up this Anastasia Ultimate Glow kit with 6 highlighters. The 6 shades are:

  • Snow (pure ice white with platinum particles).
  • White Sand (warm beige with gold flecks).
  • Golden Dawn (warm amber with gold flecks).
  • Sunray (warm copper with a peach lustre).
  • Amber Gold (warm rose with a golden lustre),
  • Hot Sand’ (warm bronze with amber lustre).

I have been using this kit every single day since the time I got it. Mostly, to make it work. I have used it with with various brushes, with powder, mixed with foundation, on their own, mixed with each other…these are the worst highlighters I have tried. The texture is powdery, chunky and glittery.

These are chunky, glitter highlighters that look so bad when applied on skin, but then they look absolutely gorgeous in photos. Honestly, this is the real ‘instagram makeup’ product – looks too much in real life and gorgeous in photos. If you have pores, it would sit in your pores and exaggerate them. I barely have pores and the glitters in this just sit on top of the skin. This ruins my makeup look every single time I use it (in real life, not in photos).

It photographs well, so looks gorgeous when you click photos. But I would not wear this highlighter outside, even at a gunpoint. It goes on uneven. The glitters scatter all around the skin. The glitter particles are of different sizes. And if you use them with a blush/fluffy brush, they go all over the place. You need a denser, more stiff brush to make them look controlled and half decent. It’s such a shame because the colors are so absolutely stunning and you can mix and match and do sooo much with this palette.

These are gorgeous, warm, golden and copper highlighters that are like dream, especially for warm skin tones. I am so disappointed with this one. I had such a good run with the Peach highlighter, but this one is a total let down for me. I absolutely love everything else I have from the brand, but this one definitley is not my favourite product.

If you don’t mind the glitters showing on your face, totally go for it. It’s great for doing creative looks too. Still, this is a bit cringeworthy product for me personally. I would really not recommend it. There are so many gorgeous highlighters that not only photograph well but look stunning in real life too. I have worn the highlighters from Glow kit HERE and HERE.

  1. Why would they make highlighters with glitters that travel? 🙁 It looks so good in the packaging, sad it won’t work for everyone. But, I just love it on you. 🙂

PS: I am now obsessed with Mary Lou Manizer. Don’t think will ever love any other highlighter as much. 😀

    1. mary lou is such a gorgeous highlighter, shikha. wish I had got it with me here. It photographs so beautifully and that’s what annoys me the most that I can’t wear it in real life..

  2. What a bummer – especially from someone who is known for initiating the Highlighter palette obsession.

But yeah – this was limited edition palette manufactured in China. The formula is supposed to be a departure from her regular glow kits or the individual highlighters ABH does. Still, super bummer!

    1. oh did not know about the limited edition thing.. I must have missed it. Would not have bothered picking it up otherwise. This palette really made me sad considering how gorgeous their peach highlighter is..
