Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss Vintage Review

Hello gorgeous gals,

Changing gear today, back to lip products 😛 When Anastasia Beverly Hills announced their liquid lipsticks, I was ecstatic! I was still reeling with euphoria over the Modern Renaissance Palette and if she would had released a Jukebox, I would have rushed to get into line to buy that too. Anyway, the liquid lipsticks got a fairly mixed reception; however, their lip glosses were constantly raved about and I was super keen on getting my hands on them. Finally, got to try a shade and it’s “Vintage.” Let us see if it is really worth the hype around it 🙂

Packaging:
The packaging is fairly simple and standard. It’s a typical lip gloss tube with a black cap – quite like Stila Stay On Liquid lipstick’s old packaging. The applicator is plain doe-foot type. So, simple, orthodox, efficient and easy to travel with. The applicator applies the product around the lip lines easily and smoothly. There is no issue with the size or the style of it.

My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss Vintage:

Color: The shade “Vintage” is aptly described as “Victorian Rose.” As I was applying it to my lips, I was thinking exactly the same though, how soft and pretty the shade is, like the petals of an English rose. The shade is light to medium dusty pink, it is just absolutely stunning! I love how it makes my lips look plumped up.

Again, a shade more suitable to fair, light and medium skin tone – maybe even tan skin, but deeper than that, the shade may not pull as flattering.

Texture: The texture of the lip gloss is quite thick. You have to drag it along to spread. The shade isn’t too light but is still on the soft side. I was worried that it might apply streaky, but it didn’t! Also, the texture allows the product to self-level – just like a nail paint. So, you do get a fairly even application. Again, as is typical of lip glosses, I expected it to be very tacky since it was distinctly thick. Surprising, there was very little stickiness upon application. Yes, if you have long hair, they will still all run to stick to your lips, but I didn’t feel the stickiness when my lips touched together. Rather I felt it was getting slightly tacky with wear, but still no more than a satin lipstick. Being glossy, it does transfer but not too much. Also, it is fairly hydrating while it wears.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this lip gloss took me by surprise. It is probably one of the most pigmented glosses (along with Illamasqua Intense glosses). I was thinking there will just be a soft wash of colour. On the contrary, it actually covered 95% of my lip pigmentation. Only a hint of my dark lip line seems slightly visible.

Lasting Power: Being a lip gloss, you expect it to ditch you at the first sign of food. Surprise! Surprise! It actually stayed put through my meal, which is fairly unheard of. I mean, lipsticks disappear, how does the lip gloss stay? The shade does get a tad bit lighter, but I was fairly impressed at the longevity considering it is a gloss. Also, it does not get patchy or develop dry patches with wear. I got about 5 hours of wear time with it.

Fragrance: There is a strong vanilla fragrance which dissipates fairly quickly but could bother someone sensitive to smell.

IMBB Rating:
A 4.8/5 product.

I am quite loving this lip gloss. I am conscious of the fact that this is a volte face from my love for matte lip colours, but it is the way it is. I absolutely love how it looks and feels on my lips. With age, the lines on my lips are becoming more obvious. I love how beautiful, youthful and plumped up it makes my lips look. As it wears, the shade looks like what your natural lip colour would have been – without any pigmentation. I think this would be just perfect for someone who loves a more youthful or natural or “fresh” look.

Yes, the brand does suggest that one can use it over lipstick. I presume this would really help if applied over the drying texture of their liquid lipsticks!! 😉 But i am totally enjoying it on its own.

Totally recommend!! A must-have shade.
