My Experience with Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick Dead Roses:
Packaging: This lipstick comes housed in a glamorous glossy black tube with a rose gold rim. The brands logo is engraved in rose gold on the cap and tube which looks classy. There is also an outer box with the product details, but since I got a mini lipstick, I didn’t get that. The lipstick doesn’t have any color coding just like MAC lipsticks, which may be quiet bothersome if we have more than one lipstick. The packaging is heavy and looks super sophisticated and chic.
Shade: The complete shade range of Anastasia’s matte lipstick collection is stunning, featuring lots of nudes to choose from, along with bold, bright, colorful and classic colors. They offer 30 shades and there is a shade for everyone and every occasion. “Dead Roses” is a stunning dusty mauve shade, which looks like an amazing mauvey nude shade on my tanned skin tone. This shade may not work for deep complexions and may look a bit darker on lighter skin tones.
Formula: The formula of these are semi-creamy and I wouldn’t call them extremely smooth or creamy. The pigmentation of this is decent and it does offers good opacity covering any lip pigmentation when swiped twice or thrice on the lips. The lippie doesn’t seem patchy and applies well and settle on to a true powdery matte finish. The application of these lipsticks are a bit on the dry side and not like usual creamy matte bullet lipsticks in the market. They do tug away at the lips when applying, so it will take a few goes to get to the true color unless you really press down. I highly recommend exfoliating your lips before applying, so it doesn’t stick to any dry patches. Even though the application is dry, they don’t actually feel drying on the lips during the day. They generally feel quite comfortable on the lips given that I have exfoliated first.
Wear Time: The lipstick lasts for a good 5 to 6 hours on the lips and they do fade off evenly and also leave a bit of a stain on the lips. These lipsticks aren’t completely transfer-proof which isn’t a concern for me, but they do come close. You might find a bit of transfer on your coffee cup, but nothing too drastic which is great.
