Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk Review

While browsing through IMBB, I came across Neetu’s review of the Andalou Naturals Meyer Lemon Cleanser, which reminded me that I had been using a cleanser from the same brand for several months now and I could write a review of it. What I have is the variant for dry, sensitive skin, the Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk.

I love using natural and organic products when pregnant or while nursing. When I went to the health products store for an organic/natural option, I was attracted to the Andalou Naturals items because they have recommendations for different skin types, including mine, which is dry and sensitive. In fact that’s exactly what it says on the bottle of the Apricot Probiotic Cleansing milk—for Dry and Sensitive Skin.

This has an interesting ingredients list. Among others, it contains aloe vera juice, sunflower oil, apricot oil, almond milk, apple, grape, and bilberry fruit stem cell cultures, and…lactobacillus. Yup, it really does contain probiotics – lactobacillus being one of four in the ingredients.  I can actually smell the probiotics in this cleanser. It smells of peach and apricot with an underlying yogurt-y type of scent to it. The scent is a bit strong at times, so some people may be put off by it, but I personally find it fresh, fruity, and not artificial-smelling. Also, I love yogurt and eat it everyday.

This is a cleansing milk, so it has a different consistency from foaming facial cleansers. To me, it feels like cream, as in the dairy product that’s used in making soups and cakes. It also looks like cream, having the same milky color. It spreads very smoothly and easily on the skin. It does not foam up or produce any suds or at all. Nope, zero! But I don’t feel like it leaves a film or an oily residue. It doesn’t make my sensitive skin itchy or red, and neither does it make my skin feel tight or dry, which I love about it. In fact, my skin feels more supple now.  If you have dry skin and most foaming cleansers dry you out even more, try a cleansing milk.
The Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk also leaves my face feeling clean. It’s ideal for mornings when there isn’t really much to cleanse from the face, and may also be used for nighttime, but only when I’ve used minimal makeup or no makeup at all. For heavier makeup, like liquid foundation, mascara, etc., I feel I need something more, to get all the makeup completely off my skin. For that, I use Bioderma Cleansing Water, then this, or use a foaming cleanser instead.

As for its claim of giving a “healthy glow” and “revitalized complexion,” I can say, after using this almost daily for several months, that it’s true to a certain extent. I think my skin, which is currently dull from lack of sleep and exhaustion, is not as bad as it should look. My skin’s texture also doesn’t feel too uneven, it’s not as dry as it was before, and it’s certainly not irritated.

Pros of Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk:

  • Fresh, fruity scent.
  • Very smooth consistency.
  • Doesn’t leave an oily film or residue.
  • Very mild to my sensitive skin.
  • Does not break me out.
  • Makes my skin feel a bit more supple and moisturized after use.
  • Keeps my skin from looking really dull and uneven.
  • One bottle lasts a long time.

Cons of Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk:

  • I don’t think it removes long-wearing makeup completely if used alone.
  • It doesn’t affect the growth or removal of my blackheads.
  • The scent may be a bit strong for some people.

Overall, I would totally recommend the Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk for dry or even combination skin. It’s not drying and even makes skin feel more moisturized, smooth, and it cleans gently. I can use it in both cooler weather and in summers. I would not only buy it again, I’m also interested in trying the other products in Andalou Naturals’ dry and sensitive skin range.
