Antioxidant + Age-Defying Face Pack: DIY
Reading so many useful DIY articles from the talented fraternity of IMBB prompted me to write a DIY article myself. I’m a working girl and by the end of the week I’m so tired that I do not want to do anything which needs time and patience. I prefer pampering my skin by going to the spa and getting a nice facial or at best I’d scrub my face with VLCC Berberry scrub and apply the Clay Pack from Lotus and feel like a superwoman after doing so much for my skin.. 😛
While I was growing up my mom would literally harass me to use either this orange peel face pack that she’d make every week or scrub my face with masoor dal powder soaked in milk. We’d often rub papaya slices on our face together. As children we never realize how much our parents care for us but once we leave the nest we come to realize how selfless they’d always been and how much they cared. Huh..(sigh).. I got emotional here.
Anyways so let’s get to the DIY.. I want to share an antioxidant, age defying face pack with you guys.
Before we get to the method, I’d like to tell you about the benefits of each ingredient that I’ve used.
Green Tea: We all know the health benefits of a cup of green tea; it is rich in antioxidants and is increasingly being used in a wide range of cosmetics due to its anti-ageing properties. It will also help to reduce blemishes and leave your skin super smooth. Thus, green tea can not only help you with your weight loss but also makes you look younger.
Cocoa Powder: My face glows every time I eat a piece of chocolate. Imagine the treat my face is in for when I use cocoa as a key ingredient for my face pack. Cocoa is rich in flavonoids which help to maintain the collagen level of our skin. We all use cocoa butter as moisturizer and we all know how sinfully delicious does it smell. As Cocoa is rich in antioxidants, it is again widely used in various skin rituals in major spas and salons be it a chocolate facial, a pedicure or a body glow pack.
Honey: Honey is an excellent moisturizer and is again rich in antioxidants. There is a whole list of benefits that this gift of nature is loaded with. Don’t even get me started on this one.
Yogurt: I can slather my face with just plain yogurt and I know my skin would thank me. Yogurt not only aids digestion but it also improves the skin texture. The cooling effects will soothe the skin and the zinc in it will help reduce the blemish spots. The lactic acid would help reduce those age spots and wrinkles and regular usage would also enhance your complexion.
Aloe Vera Gel: No matter what is your skin type, Aloe Vera is going to help you. The Aloe Vera leaves are loaded with antioxidants and hence its usage reduces the signs of aging. It replenishes the dehydrated facial skin and it also helps combat the after effects of sun exposure. No wonder Aloe Vera is called the Miracle Plant or the Plant of Immortality.
How to prepare the antioxidant, age defying pack:
• Tear a green tea bag open and take out its content in a small clean bowl.
• Add 3/4 tea-spoon of Cocoa powder to it..
• Add a tea-spoon of Yogurt and a tea-spoon of honey.
• Scrape out some fresh Aloe Vera gel and mix it all together. You may add more Yogurt to get the desired consistency.
Voila.. you are done. Apply a generous layer on your face & neck. Let it rest for 20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. I don’t need to apply moisturizer after this. I just dab some rose water and I’m good to go.
P.S. This face pack will suit all skin types.
Try it lovelies and let me know how you liked it.
