How to Apply Pigments

Playing With Pigments
Ever since I received my Ragusa pigment stack by Alva Naturkosmetic from the IMBB New Year Giveaway by Tatjana, I have been looking up everything I can get on the net on how to use them and these are a few things I was successful in achieving –

1. An orchid eye look: Nothing special to say about this one, just using 02.2 – LI-LA-LILAC (violetish mauve) and 02.3 – ENCHANTING SEA (peacock blue/green) from the colour stack. If anyone finds it interesting, do tell me, and I will do an article on this in details. But as this is a pretty much standard make up with pigments, let me move on to the new things I learnt.

2. Making my own customised lip gloss- It is very simple in essence. All you need to do is find a clean dish or any non sticky plain thing to serve as your palette. This video demonstrates that very thoroughly –

Hope you all enjoyed the dolby-digital sound effects of the video. Ahem! Now, I have mixed the 02.2 – LI-LA-LILAC with a clear, transparent lip gloss to get a wonderful and super glossy, highly pigmented customised shade of lilac lip gloss.

In the picture, I have swatched all three samples – from left to right are: the clear transparent gloss, the 02.2 – LI-LA-LILAC pigment, and finally, my gorgeous gloss that i got by mixing the former two in a glass dish.

3. Next I learnt to make my own high gloss nail polish. Basically we put any polish on the nail, and before it dries, dust the loose pigment on it. Thus the colour gets stuck when the polish dries and then we put a top coat of clear, glossy nail polish to get the high shine look. This video explains it all, and thankfully without any special sound effects.

I have coated my nail with Avon Simply Pretty Black Beauty nail enamel polish

And dusted 02.3 – ENCHANTING SEA on it before the polish dried up

Then I used my Revlon Street Wear Top Coat clear nail polish for the beautiful, sparkling nail

4. And finally, I have learned the trick to make eye liners with a difference. Now I can wear all the shades that will get people wondering how come they never came across such a shade anywhere before- the trick is adequately demonstrated in this video –

However, I am not following that video entirely. I am not mixing the pigment in water; I am mixing it in waterproof liner for better effect. In the following picture, are the swatches of all three samples – the 02.4 – HOME OF PHOENIX (dark ash) pigment (Tatjana’s favourite), followed by my waterproof black eyeliner, and finally the personalised rich gray eye liner I got by mixing the first two in a glass dish.

Pigments

Excuse me saying this myself; I think in the end my liner looks better on the eye than the one demonstrated in the video, which otherwise is a really good resource for learning. So I will ask everybody who is going to try this, to use a proper liner as the mixing medium since it holds the pigment better than water, and binds the new colour to the skin properly (as a proper liner should do) too.

Pigments

Only the customised gray liner, with a light dusting of gold on the lids is enough for an everyday beauty look – gorgeous, without being overly so.

I am in love with the pigments… :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

  5. I even liked the idea of creating your own skin color foundation dupe using pigments. I saw this video in which the girl (don’t remember the name! 🙁 ) mixed her skin color pigment with a normal day wear cream and applied it on her face. It created such an awesomeeeeeeee base. I was literally amazed!!! 😀 😀 😀
