If you are into the whole “liquid lipstick” trend like me, you know how difficult it can be to use such a lip product in winters due to the excessive drying nature of liquid lipsticks. Moreover, using slippery lip balms under lipsticks are a no go, so for that reason, I was looking around for a good lip primer and that’s when I picked up this Ardency Inn Modster Lip Balm and Primer.
A universal lip balm that protects and primes lips.
What it is formulated to do:
Ardency Modster Lip Balm and Primer provides all-day moisture, protects lips, and its slight green tint neutralizes lip color for a soft focus look, prepping lips for shade application. The weightless, conditioning formula delivers softer, sexier-looking lips, while the peppermint scent freshens your breath. Layer it on as desired for added moisture and for its color-neutralizing effect. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
My Experience with Ardency Inn Modster Lip Balm and Primer:
Packaging: Comes in a sleek glossy black case with a magnetic closure lid, very travel friendly.
Texture and Feel on Lips: This lip primer is bright green in the tube which claims to neutralize the lip color, but it applies completely transparent on the lips in fact it won’t even show up in a swatch so I skipped to include that in the review. So if you were looking at this product to camouflage or neutralize pigmented lips you will be disappointed, but personally for me this wasn’t much of an issue.
On the lips, it applies and feels silky smooth. It does not feel too sticky or slippery. In fact, it feels weightless and undetectable on the lips expect for the light refreshing peppermint scent and taste, which stays even when topped with a lipstick. There is no cooling sensation usually associated with such a minty-smelling product. I did not notice it providing any extra dose of moisture or hydration to my dry lips, but it did help smooth the texture and fine lines on them and helped keep them comfortable all day, even when topped with a super drying lip product.
I usually wear this lip primer under lip liners, matte or liquid lipsticks and have noticed it helps apply them so much smoothly and easily. Since it does not have that slippery texture, it does not affect the way my lipsticks dry. It helps my lipstick not bleed.
I did not notice it imparting any effect on the longevity of my lipstick though my lips looked smoother.
Overall, I like this product, but do not consider it an absolute must-have for everybody. If you are someone who wears a lot of matte lip products, you will definitely benefit from having this in your makeup kit. I will recommend this.
