Asahi R&D Suhada Shizuku Rich Total Aging Pack Gel Review

Hey guys!

I have heard Melodee Morita rave about one of the variants from this range and I picked it up thinking it will be great too. Let’s see if it actually was!

My Experience with Asahi R&D Suhada Shizuku Rich Total Aging Pack Gel:

The packaging is a round plastic tub in a teardrop shaped outer packaging. It is meant to symbolise hydration, I believe. There are 2 sizes available: for 100g and 200g. I got the 100 grams one. The tub form can be a con if you don’t wash your hands well and so, it becomes unsanitary.

It supposed to be lotion, emulsion, serum, cream and pack gel – all in one! It eliminates multiple steps in skincare and makes it a one-step product. It is great to use right after you step out of the shower. Massage the product in for about 30 seconds and you’re good to go. This is a product specifically for times when you are feeling lazy or just don’t have the time and patience to layer 4-5 skin care products.

This takes a while to sink into the skin, so it is not an apply-and-run product. I don’t use it in the morning when I am in a rush to get anywhere. I recommend it for nighttime, when you can do a facial massage and the product sinks in better; your skin will thank you later.

The consistency is a thin, watery gel and spreads out very easily. Since it is so thin, it forms a very thin layer on the skin and the skin instantly feels hydrated. It is not sticky.

While it is soft and non-greasy on the normal to dry skin areas, it does not perform well on oily areas. I have combination skin, with the oiliest area of my face being my eyelids and a slightly less so, my T-zone. This makes sense because this variant is specifically for very dry or dehydrated skin, but still it is too rich for my normal skin too. It stings when it gets close to eye, so I prefer using a separate eye cream for the entire eye area.

You have to really massage the product in, otherwise it just sits on top of the skin and does not sink in. I have tried taking a little of it and then try working with that. So, if I apply a little more on normal skin areas or if I don’t massage it in, it feels greasy to the touch. The original version is supposed to release water droplets after being spread out. In this version, I can’t see any water droplets, but can feel them a little bit as I massage my skin.

This is an anti-aging product, that is, it claims to be brightening and it fills in fine lines (due to hydration). But, I didn’t notice any effects frankly! If anything, my skin was very hydrated. That’s about it!

I don’t like layering this underneath my makeup at all. It is a bit too greasy for me, even on my cheeks (where I have normal skin). As I mentioned before, I only recommend it for nighttime. So because my skin does not get along with this product very well, I like to use it on my cheeks, neck and forearm, which are always in desperate need of moisture. You can use it all year round. For summer, you can keep it in the fridge to cool it down too (like face masks).

Cons of Asahi R&D Suhada Shizuku Rich Total Aging Pack Gel:

• Packaging can become unsanitary over time.

Would I Recommend Asahi R&D Suhada Shizuku Rich Total Aging Pack Gel?
Even though I am not loving it, I can see dry to very dry skin people really getting along with this. Note that the title has ‘Rich’ in it, so it supposed to be even more moisturising than the regular version. But, even the rich version is so lightweight. Having said that, I can’t comment on how the original version of this fares on combination/oily skin.
