Winter is here! It’s the perfect time for yummy soups, brewing stews and wardrobe changes! Every season has its own rewards and shortcomings. As we enjoy winter hues of makeup, it’s also the time to take good care of our skin. The main challenge during this season is to get rid of the dry skin without losing its lustre! While it is the best time to indulge into brightening and exfoliating treatments (who can forget those dear bath soaks!), it’s necessary to indulge in hydrating treatments too.
As the skin tends to lose its moisture, it’s essential to have a perfect lotion and moisturiser. While I was checking products online, I found a moisturiser suitable for my face and body and it fascinated me! The price was quite reasonable. So, I bought one for myself and tried it out.
Astral Original was established in 1953. It is a well-known UK brand and is available in two variants: Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser and Astral Soft Face and Body Moisturiser with a lighter formula and scent. Today, I’m reviewing The Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser.
Price: £3.89 for 200 ml
This versatile moisturiser has your beauty needs covered. It’s hydrating after a shower, nourishing after a day in the sun and cleansing after an evening in makeup. Our intensely rich formula protects your skin from head to toe and keeps essential moisture locked in – so you can still feel it working hours later.
Locks in moisture: Astral Original contains lanolin, a rich natural moisturiser that creates a protective barrier while allowing your skin to breathe. It’s naturally hypoallergenic and easily absorbed by your skin.
Hydrates and smooths: The glycerine in Astral increases the moisture content of your skin by attracting water to the surface layers. It’s also a natural moisturiser that can help you achieve smoother-looking skin.
My Experience with Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser:
The Astral cream comes in a sturdy, royal blue plastic tub with a screw cap. The product is available in three sizes – 500 ml, 200 ml and 50 ml. It is a thick white cream with a rich texture. The consistency is quite smooth and as it is little thick in texture, your skin will take some time to absorb it. However, this is not a concern as it keeps your skin soft, supple and nourished. Though this cream is not specifically designed for winters, I find this cream suitable as it really nourishes any itchy or dry patches on the skin.
It has a pleasant smell which will not be a problem for sensitive skin. I have been using this cream for over a month and I am happy with the results. No frills and fancies attached, it just does a good job! I use this product mainly as a body moisturiser and it certainly leaves my skin soft, smooth and hydrated. During the daytime, I used it a couple of times on my face and it worked well without makeup. Still, I don’t prefer using it for my face, as it didn’t blend with my primer, BB Cream and pressed powders(maybe because of its thickness). However, I use it as a night cream and the results are certainly good. The best part about this moisturiser is, it is suitable for all skin types.
I have an oily skin and so I was quite concerned about that thin oily surface on my skin but thankfully it is a non-greasy moisturiser. Since Astral is a renowned UK brand, this cream is quite popular among the women of age 45 and above. I am not sure how well this cream would work during summers, but it moisturises your skin really well. This cream is definitely recommended for the dry, eczema-prone and sensitive skin.
Pros of Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser:

IMBB Rating: 4.9/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser? Yes. Winters would prevail till April in London, and I have bought it to last for next few months. I have also purchased a travel-friendly sized tub.
