Aura Cacia Organic Rosehip Oil Review

Because I love experimenting with my skincare, I have a part of my drawer, filled with little bottles of all kinds of oils. When I visited India this summer, I had the most horrible bout of breakouts ever! I knew that eventually, these pesky pimples would disappear, but what I worried about were the scars and marks that they would leave behind. I wanted to take the natural route to take care of them, when I found that a combination of Rosehip and Tamanu oil can mimic the job of using retinoids! I think I found some great stuff here guys!

Main Ingredients:

Organic Rosehip (Rosa Canina)Fruit Oil, D-alpha-tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate)

My Experience with Aura Cacia Organic Rosehip Oil:

I massage a single pump of this orange-ish-yellow oil mixed with a single pump of Aura Cacia Tamanu Oil (review coming soon!), at night. It has a faint earthy smell, nothing that is too bothersome. It’s not a greasy oil (its called a dry oil) by itself, but when I use it with the Tamanu Oil, it seems more oily.

I started using it in August, when my acne was active. For that entire month, I noticed how supple my skin became. But I didn’t notice any major difference in the reduction of my acne, scars and pigmentation. Thereafter, when I returned to my city after the vacation, I used it occasionally, since I lost hope that this would work. Despite using it irregularly, my acne completely subsided in the next two months (I don’t think it’s because of this though), but I still had scars and pigmentation left. I started using this concoction regularly when I ran out of my night cream, and was too lazy to buy another one :p. A week or two later was when I discovered that this stuff actually works! My pigmentation completely reduced to just spots here and there, while my pitted scars seemed to decrease in size. Using products that take a long time to work makes it harder to judge if it has worked really well, unless you document it through pictures. I did no such thing, but when I caught up with a friend after so many months, she kept complimenting on how lovely my skin looked and asked which foundation I was wearing (wasn’t wearing one at all!). I’ve used it a couple of times on my hair. I love using it as a hair serum, especially on the ends of my hair. It keeps it from being too dry, without making it oily.

Now here is the deal breaker. It doesn’t suit every skin type. For as many number of people who’ve claimed this as a holy grail, there are equal number of people who’ve testified that this has broken them out. It’s unclear why that may be, but to know if it would suit your skin, you’d have to take ooparwaalekanaam and try it out yourself . Also, from experience, I don’t think this works well if you have active acne. First, try to completely treat acne, before you address the issue of marks and scars.
There are so many benefits of using Rosehip oil, that an entire article would be required to address it. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve rarely bought any favorite product again, but this may be an exception. I may try other brands, but I don’t think I’m going to eliminate rosehip oil from my skin care regime, anytime soon.
