Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser Review

Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser

Hello Ladies,

Its Friday again and I am looking really forward to my weekend, I guess you all are aching for it too. The weather here is really dull and extremely cold, something I am totally despising daily, but sadly cannot do much about. Anyway, I decided to review a product that would perhaps make you all reminiscence the sun for a while, especially those of you living in cold winter cities like me.

It is Aveda’s Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser. Yes simply the word Sun, is able to lift my mood up. I purchased this at the same time and in the same hair salon as my Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid Serum, that I reviewed for you all earlier. So lets see, if this particular product was able to satisfy me or was it totally a waste of my money.

Price– £ 17.50

My Experience with Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser

As I have mentioned this to you all before, my family loves the beach and we try and customise are holidays in a similar fashion. Therefore keeping these thoughts in mind, I decided to purchase this product that promised to cleanse my hair and from all the chlorine residue I would endure during such vacations and would also help make my hair as well as my body feel better due to the natural ingredients that made up its formula. Sold by these few promises, I decided to have a go at it and purchase this vibrant bottle.

The packaging of this bottle is a bit similar to the Clarins After Sun Soothing Gel, it is a vibrant orange and reminds of me of the gorgeous sun. Therefore is apt for a beach holiday product. It has a flip plastic clap, that opens half way for the product to be released.

I used this on my first day of vacation after a long day in the pool, the cleanser itself is thick and orange-yellowish in colour and lathered pretty well on my hair. Okay now the fragrance, if you all are able to remember from my previous post on Aveda. I had mentioned I did not like the smell of most Aveda products, and I probably would say the same thing here. Having said that I know that people in my own family like it, so I would not like to generalise. So the smell I would say is a bit musky, barely tropical sort of smell. I would not say it is totally organic, but due to the overload of natural ingredients within the formula, I guess it is bound to smell this way. I find it slightly overpowering in my opinion and this is where my problem lies. If I don’t like a particular smell of a product, I cannot just have it anywhere near me (It was pretty difficult taking a swatch too). I mean I can bear it if I have to, but if I can avoid it, I run miles away from it.

As for the effects of this particular product, I used a dime sized amount of product on my hair. Like I said it lathered really well on my hair, and I did find that my scalp felt squeaky clean post application. It did not make my scalp feel heavy, in fact it felt really light and my hair did not feel pulled down. My hair also felt soft and easy to comb once dried, I guess it was due to the coconut oil and tamanu in the ingredients. It was also bouncy and my waves looked pretty lovely and shiny that night. I had no residue left of any sort in my scalp and left me pretty pleased about using this. So, I would say it left my hair pretty manageable. However sadly for me, I did not like the fragrance of it and have been pretty hesitant on using this again.
