Summer’s just about here, and the heat equates to sweat, tan, sunburn and all those ill phenomenon that revolve around the sun, gee. Though, there’s also a lot of swimming, weekend getaways and hiking involved, so maybe all the bad that the sun is about can be overlooked after all. However, what cannot be overlooked this season is the need for a really effective sunblock system. On my quest to replace my Cetaphil sunscreen, which unfortunately was out of stock, the sales agent overwhelmed me with the goodness of a sunscreen which claimed it all, and apparently had it all. Now, how true does that statement hold, we’re just about to discover. So let’s begin!
INR 850 for 85 g (3.0 OZ)
There are two in this range: one for the face strictly and this one which can be used for both the face and body. A product of Johnson and Johnson, the trust is why I even bothered giving this a try.
Titanium Dioxide (6%), Zinc Oxide (3%)
My Experience with Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50:
I’d recently discovered that the ingredients that are natural and help fight against the sun’s harmful rays are Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide. Also, this was a product by Johnson and Johnson, claimed a beyond good amount of SPF, was mostly made up of natural ingredients, did not have perfumes or fragrances, and contained OATS which is reportedly good for the skin; cashing out this one wasn’t much of a fuss – I knew I had to.
The sunscreen is of a medium consistency, neither too watery nor too thick. A very little amount goes a long way. In fact, if you apply more than necessary, it will leave behind a whitish cast, which won’t go for a long time. So about a small pea size works for all hands, neck, and face – literally! That means this will last me all summer, even with the re-applications. The product absorbs quickly provided you do not slap too much of it on. It takes a few times to know how much is enough, though. However, the dispenser and its cap is a little uncomfortable. When you open it, a lot of product might have oozed out, which collects in the cap, and you need to clean it every time. That leads not only to product and time wastage but also makes it a tad unhygienic. Also, I didn’t observe it to be particularly sweat free, but then no other sunscreen has ever been either. Otherwise, I’m satisfied with my purchase and I believe it is worth the price.
Pros Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50:
- Lesser harmful ingredients as compared to most other sunscreens.
- Contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which are reportedly very effective and harmless to skin.
- Fragrance free, oil- free.
- Doesn’t clog pores.
- A very little amount is required.
- Long lasting.
- Contains oat.
- Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
- Worth the price.
- Goes under makeup effortlessly.
Cons Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50:
- The cap is a big mess.
- Needs reapplications often.
- Not exactly sweat free contrary to the claim.
- Can be easily overused, which tends to leave a whitish cast.
Would I repurchase Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50?
Sure, I would.
Would I recommend Aveeno Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50?
It’s a competitive product, comes from a trusted brand, contains rather natural ingredients, lasts for a long time, requires a very small amount every application, is fragrance and oil-free… well, need I say more?
