My experience with Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator:

I do have some dark circles and brown spots around my eyes. I generally use either the Himalaya or Olay under-eye cream. While those are really good, I find that they make the under-eye area look oily after application. Moreover, the effect lasts only as long as I keep using them. So I was looking for a better solution that can have a more permanent effect. I came across this product called ‘Eye illuminator’ from Aveeno’s Postively Radiant line. I generally like Aveeno products, as they are very gentle and effective at the same time. So I was quite excited by the claims made by this product.

This eye illuminator claims to improve tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness and brown spots. And to top that, it is oil-free. It sounded perfect for me!
The Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator comes in a unique curved applicator with a twist-off cap. The cap is kind of hard to get off. You need to unscrew and twist it open! The applicator has a really soft brush at its tip. You have to squeeze the applicator gently to get the product out on to the brush, which can then be applied on the eye area – under and around the eyes. Make sure that you squeeze really gently! Else you will end up getting a lot of the product, which will inevitably get into your eyes when you try to apply it and really sting the eyes!

The product by itself is pale white in color and has a runny texture. When you apply it around the eyes, you might feel a mild tingling sensation, which subsides almost immediately. The product just disappears as it is absorbed quickly into the skin and leaves absolutely no oily after effect! it also moisturizes the eye area quite well. So far, so good!

Now coming to the claims of this product – unfortunately, this does nothing for the dark circles or brown spots or dullness around the eyes. Even after using it for over a month, I do not find any change at all. This was really disappointing.
The packaging, while it looks sleek, also makes it difficult to open and to use. However careful I am while squeezing the applicator, I often do get more product on the brush, which then gets into my eyes. Moreover, though there is a brush, the instructions also say to massage the serum with your fingers! If I have to use my fingers anyway, what is the point of including the brush which just gives rise to hygiene concerns?!

Pros of Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator:

 Moisturizes the eye area effectively
 Gets absorbed immediately and not leave any oiliness behind

Cons of Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator:

 Does not help with under eye circles or brown spots or anything else that it claims to do
 Brush applicator may be a problem for some due to hygiene issues
 Getting the product out of the applicator is not so easy!
 Expensive for 15 ml of product
 May not suit overly sensitive skin as there is some tingling sensation on application
IMBB Rating:

This can work as a good moisturizer for the eye area but nothing beyond that! Definitely not worth the price and effort! Please do not buy it!
