My Experience with Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo:
This shampoo comes in a simple tube bottle. The cap has to be pushed down which opens up a hole through which the product is dispersed from. I do not like the fact that the bottle is opaque as you cannot see how much product is left. Also, since the bottle is long, the last few uses of the product are difficult to get out unless you keep the bottle upside down. These are not deal breakers, just tiny cons.
This shampoo is melted silver like color. It is a little runny but it is not watery.
The main selling point of this shampoo for me was the fact that it is Sulfate free. After reading so many articles about the damaging effects of Sulfates on hair, I have decided to cut down on this ingredient in my everyday products.
Even though this shampoo does not contain Sulfate, it lathers pretty well. If I have done an oil treatment on my hair the night before I will need about 2 rinse and repeat cycles to get rid of all the oil in my hair. I did find it lathers much better on non-oily hair vs on hair which has been recently oiled.
For me, this is an average shampoo. It did not create noteworthy results on my hair, but it did not adversely affect it either. My hair, which is naturally dry, did not get any additional boost of moisture when using this shampoo. Hence, for me, using a deeply hydrating conditioner was optimal when using this shampoo. My husband, who has normal hair, did not find the need to do so every time he shampooed.
It did leave my hair clean of all grime and dirt, yet it did not leave them parched or straw like. My fine hair did feel bouncy after using this, though I did not see any extra shine or smoothness. I do like the fact that this shampoo is safe for color treated hair, even though I do not subject my hair to those treatments.
This shampoo has a nice, subtle, clean scent which does not linger for long on hair.
Overall, this is a great, mild, everyday shampoo. I feel like people with normal hair will enjoy this product along with the peace of mind that they are not harming their hair with Sulfates. And, the huge quantity provided for the affordable price tag is a huge plus. I will recommend this!
