GLAZEWEAR INTENSE LIP GLOSS from Avon – Review

I bought the colour ‘CHERRY LIQUER’ from the Glazeware Intense Lip gloss range of Avon.

Avon GLAZEWEAR INTENSE LIPGLOSS

The colour surprisingly tallied with what was printed in the brochure, and it is a rich, vibrant shade of darkish pink (more on the ‘liquer’ side than on the ‘cherry’).

Upon opening the tube, my first hurdle was the was the wand – the primitive type that gets intensely messy and the applicator tip is not at all suited for fine application. A separate brush needs to be kept aside for using the gloss.

Then I smelled it (since I tend to lick off my lips any lip balm/stick/gloss/etc, that smell good enough, this action is essential before use) and found it moderate and sweet-ish.
The effort to dig the gloss out of the tube was too much. The liquid is very heavy and thick, and the wand does not help at all…

All over it the gloss was stuck and the brush was totally ugly and unsuitable for its intended purpose.
I tried a swatch to see how the product feels in real use and was disappointed in that also. It was too thick for a smooth and even application and lumped at one place only. When I tried to remove it, it smeared on the skin and made it sticky.

Here is that ugly, uneven swatch –

Still, I went ahead and tried it on my lips. The feeling was not at all pleasant. Nor was the taste of the gloss anything special. It was difficult to apply on the thinner part of the mouth near the corners, as the thick, frazzly wand makes the gloss spill over the lip line. And then the problem of the gloss being too thick and lumping in some parts is there.

When I ordered for this product, I thought 4.5gms for Rs. 329 is a good deal, especially when we get 4gms in an average lipstick. After putting the gloss over my lips, the first thought in my mind was, ‘oh no! I have to endure 4.5gms of this!’

Moreover, the overall look was not of any intensely glazy lip-gloss, but of any average, run of the mill glossy lipstick.

Anyways, let us move on to the general profile of the product with its positives and negatives…

Manufactured and Marketed by – Avon.
Quantity – 4.5gms.
Price – Rs. 329.
Colours Available – Mauve Movement, Grape Jelly, Darling Pink, Sundance, Apricot, Brown Sugar and Cherry Liquer.

Positives about Avon Glazewear Intense Lip gloss

  • Quantity is 4.5gms.
  • Colour matched with what was printed in the brochure.
  • Plastic tube – the body is quite durable and safe to carry in purse/handbag.

Negatives about Avon Glazewear Intense Lip gloss

  • Price is Rs. 329.
  • The wand and applicator tip are horrible.
  • Lumpy and heavy. Gives an uncomfortable sticky-sticky feeling.
  • The smell is nothing special. Neither is the taste.

Overall verdict – I will be very happy when it is finished, or if I lose it somewhere, and will not buy a second one. I sincerely lament sacrificing all the fuchkas / golgappas / panipuris that I could have had with Rs. 329.

My Rating – :-* + 0.25

  1. me so sad it didn’t work for u specially when avon hypes its glosses so much saying they are amongst the best or something:( 🙁 :(( :((

      1. u r welcome scooby :handshake: try it. this technique brings out the color of your lipstick to the max. Lipgloss on bare lips vanishes very soon and colored lipgloss atop lipstick alters the true shade of the lipstick.

        1. get colorbar tube gloss in apple or strawberry. or even oriflame gloss bosster in sugar glaze. very cheap options and will go well on ALL your lipsticks :hugleft: :hughright:

  2. You like a lot of avon products no.. :)) I have juts tried their lip balms once upon a time but nothing after that. I am still not ver comfortable with the idea of catalogue shopping…but sorry it dint work for you. :((

  3. fuchkas????????? Kolkatan ru??? from where in Kolkata?? I have the Avon Gold shine lipgloss in ruby lustre …its ok…but not my favourite…and the color is not at all what is shown in the catalog..thank god I got it on a discount offer

    1. acha..I dont live exactly in Kolkata..I live near Barackpore 🙂 🙂 and I really cant buy lippies from Oriflame n Avon because I dunno how the shades n texture would turn up…dunno why these brands dont turn them into drugstore ones 🙁

      1. yaa…my college n shopping destinations are all in Kolkata .. so have to travel to Kol almost everyday :handshake: :handshake:

    1. Hello Ankita
I know this question was meant for Scarlett but since I am an avon rep I decided to share my few recommendations 🙂
If you are fond of perfumes you will love most of their perfume collections. Try to get them in sales they are worth it!!
Their glimmerstick eyeliners & supershock mascara are great items.
Amongst lipsticks I recommend you try from Metallic, Satin Ultra Colour and Rich Mega Impact Lipsticks. Also their true colour eyeshadow quads are pretty good but try getting them in sale only (which happens every other month).
Also if you are fond of nail paints they have a good collection of Pro Nail Enamels.

      Hope this helps :))

  4. I am so sad this didn’t work for you but believe me Avon lipglosses are really good. We don’t get this shade here so never had to deal with the unfortunate experience but I recommended Sundance & Crimson from this range to 2 different people and they both seemed to love it. If this didn’t work for you I’m sure glazewear dazzle lip gloss will definitely. It’s the latest from their lipgloss range and I think by far the best avon lipglosses. If you ever get a chance try that in Nude Shimmer, Plum Dazzle & Fuschia Fantasy. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed :))

  5. Aww…bad experience!! :(( :hughright: :hughright: :hughright: …For me too I got this oriflame lippi Tender orchid seeing the brochure and it is all frosty lippi!! 🙁 ..Can’t wear anytime….. :weep: :weep: :weep: :weep: !!

Anyways…Gooooooooooood Morrrrrrrrrrrrning everyoneee!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

      1. 1. yuppp hopefully!!            :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2: :jiggy2:

  6. Hey Scooby-Doo. LIke you review! I have the same thing in Darling Pink and boy, am I glad I didn’t purchase any other shades [i did have cherry liqueur in mind] There is nothing great about these glosses, smells nice but no pigmentation or staying power.

  7. “I sincerely lament sacrificing all the fuchkas / golgappas / panipuris” Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww….Scooby-Doooooooooooo 😀 😀 😀 Never mind..at least you won’t buy one again naaa..I had something from this range..no idea what colour..it was a pink something…ages back…and I totally agree with your review. I like very few products from Avon – eyeliners, lipliners, nail paints….and some of their higher-end lipsticks are okay..like the pro-to-go ones..but generally, I have stopped buying much from Avon because just like you..I keep thinking what I could buy and eat for that money instead 😀 😀 😀

    1. Heheheheeeeeeeeee…If I do come to Kolkatta ever..I will hunt you out and get everything and anything edible bought for me 😀 😀 😀 Have been only once..ages back…we stayed for maybe a day or two…in transit to Assam…errr…I didn’t like it that time cos I really had never been to a city before..so I felt very confused…but we ate the most awesome rasgullas at someone’s house…came in a small matka..with 2 or 3 in each matka…sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…give me food and I will like any place

  8. And I was wondering..maybe if you wiped most of the product off the wand and into the bottle and maybe just dab dab with the wand..you might find the gloss better…. ?:) ?:) ?:)

    1. thats what I do with all my glosses!! 😀 :D..I dont like the soooper shiny things on my lips!! ..just lillllll bit of shine and :-* :-* :-*
