Avon Golden Black GoldShine Eyeliner with Smudger

Avon Golden Black GoldShine Eyeliner with Smudger

Avon goldshine eyeliner

I love buying eye makeup. I am totally into experimenting with colours and shades when it comes to my eyes, though I stay away from those metallic, on-your-face colours like electric blue or green, etc. Though I love colours on my eyes, I prefer them to be subtle and muted. So, something that really caught my eye for its muted yet glamorous effect on the eye was this golden black goldshine eyeliner and the best part is that it comes along with a smudger for those who want to opt for the smokey eye look with a bit of golden glitter and shimmer.

One of my friends who possessed the black eyeliner of this same range that comes with the smudger at the back was really impressed by the colour and the feel of the black eyeliner. So, when I found the black eyeliner with gold shine and a smudger as well in the Avon booklet, I decided to go for it. I did not have anything like this and so I decided to give it a try, especially because it was coming at an introductory price lesser than the original price.

About the Product:

Avon launched this gold shine range in two colours- one in golden black that I have and there is a golden brown shade as well. While I was searching the Avon website for any detailed information about this product, I came across the following:

It is a 24k gold Eyeliner (I do not know if it has real gold particles, but that is what the name suggests). The tag line is EXTREME VALUE from the Limited-Edition Collection. Go for the gold, get a look that’s fabulously festive and stunningly sophisticated. Luxuriously smooth wink of shimmer.

Quantity:  1.2 g net weight.

Shelf Life:  2 and half years.

Price:

I got it for an introductory price of 200, but its original price is Rs. 299 or around $7.

My Take on Avon’s Golden Black GoldShine Eyeliner with Smudger:

I think what really attracted me about the eyeliner besides the earlier confirmation from my friend is that the black eyeliner in itself is good, as is the golden sparkle and the smudger. The golden shimmery effect is something you usually don’t get that easily in brands that are a little cheaper. So, when I got a product like this for only Rs. 200, I jumped at the idea of buying it and I did not regret my decision.

The black color is striking in its dark feel and add to it the golden shimmer, it gives a beautiful blended look. Some might think that the golden shimmer is not that striking and yes, that is true. The shimmer is slight, not at all loud and that is why I like it more. It makes it more wearable, both for the day and the night. So during the day you can just wear the golden black eyeliner and you are sorted, while for the night, you can go for a more elaborate look, maybe adding a dash of shadow and mascara.

There is; however, one problem. The eyeliner refuses to stay for long unless a primer is applied before. With the primer on, the eyeliner stays on for a long time and the glitter also sticks on. The smudger is good, but it could be better. Though the liner has the velvet touch and its moisture content is also good and can be easily applied, the smudging part does not happen with that ease. Owing to the not-so-good-quality smudger, it takes effort to smudge with properly.

This is how the liner looks without smudging it:

Pros of the Avon Goldshine Golden Black Eyeliner with Smudger:

• The eyeliner is soft and moist and it easily glides through, making application easy and hassle-free.
• It has the velvety tip, but is not brittle when sharpened.
• It is comparatively cheaper at Rs. 300.
• It has a smudger that helps novices who do not have proper brushes to experiment with the smokey look.

Cons of the Avon Goldshine Black Eyeliner with Smudger:

• I did not like the quality of the smudger. It is not smooth enough and can be stressful for the eye unless proper moisture is applied as the base.
• It also refuses to stay for a long time unless a primer is applied. After the application of some base; however, it stays put for a long time.
• Though I like the shimmer because of its muted effect on the eyes, to many people, it is a disadvantage and a demerit of the product. In fact, one of my friends who has the golden brown shade complains that the shimmer should have been more.
• Lastly, though I just noticed that it is named a 24k eye pencil, I am doubtful about the “gold content” so to say.

My Rating:

3.75/5.

Would I Buy it Again?

It seems to be a limited edition collection and so I am not sure whether I will get it either, but if I do get at the same price, I will go for it. The golden shimmery look is something I like and would not like to give up on it.

Cheers to looking good always,

Anveshi.

  2. I am totally loving the shimmery liners these days. They add a pretty twinkle to eyes but i feel the shimmer should be strong enough to show. Sad it didnt work. :((
