Avon Naturals Fairness Exfoliating Mask with Licorice Extract Review

Avon Naturals Fairness Exfoliating Mask with Licorice Extract

I was unaware about Avon till about a year ago when suddenly, I found myself buying a lot of Avon products, some good, some not so good. Since their products are kind of unpredictable, trials and errors are also a part of the Avon experience. So this product from Avon called Fairness Exfoliating Mask caught my attention at a time when I needed a mask, more so that exfoliates and helps reduce the darkness caused by sun tan. It was cheap, so I didn’t mind trying it even if it was not worth the money. I tried it and here is my review.

Avon Naturals Exfoliating Mask

About the Company:

I never buy cosmetic products unless I have some idea about the company. Same with Avon as well. Their site claims the following for their company:

Avon is the Number 1 Beauty Direct Seller in the World, a Beauty Icon and as one of the world’s largest micro-lenders Avon, extends credit to numerous Sales Representatives on its first order across the globe. With More than 60 lakh Representatives in over a 100 countries, Avon has understood that successful selling is about people connecting with people. That’s our spirit. In every country where we do business…in every community, Avon is committed to making a difference. Avon is a Top 100 global brand, with over Rs. 48,000 crores in annual revenue globally. It is also ranked as one of America’s most admired companies for more than a decade. This was accompanied by experiences of my friends who were happy with many of Avon’s products.

The Product:

Avon Naturals Fairness Exfoliating Mask with Licorice Extract.

50 ml. I am not aware if bigger sizes are available.

Leaves skin look and feel softer, smoother and revived. It has licorice extracts which is known for inhibiting formation of dark pigments to lighten skin. One important point is that it is dermatologist tested.

Usage Directions:

  • Smooth mask generously over face and neck.
  • Relax and let it dry for 15 minutes.
  • After it is dry, rinse off with water.
  • Use 2 to 3 times a week for best results.

Caution: Consumers are asked to discontinue use if irritation or rashes appear.

Water, propylene glycol, kaolin, glycerin, stearic acid, canola oil, cetyl alcohol, mineral oil, dimethyl polysiloxane, sorbitan monostrearate, titanium dioxide, triethanolamine, pumice, fragrance, POE(20M) sorbitan monosteartate, imidazolidinyl urea, disodium EDTA, methyl paraben, thiopropionic acid, tocopheryl acetate, neem seed extract, sunflower seed extract, grape seen extract, vitamin A palmitate, licorice extract, Cl 14700, Cl 60730.

My Take on Avon Naturals Fairness Exfoliating Mask with Licorice Extract:

The mask contains licorice extract which act as direct inhibitors to tyrosinase and tyrosinase ,as Wikipedia tells me, is a copper-containing enzyme present in plant and animal tissues that catalyzes the production of melanin and other pigments from tyrosine by oxidation, as in the blackening of a peeled or sliced potato exposed to air. It is found inside melanosomes. In humans, the tyrosinase enzyme is encoded by the TYR gene. Therefore, definitely skin darkening should be reduced by the regular usage of this mask.

Besides, it has tiny granules that help in exfoliating and cleaning away the dead cells on the skin’s outermost surface that leaves the skin soft and clean. The minute granules work very well on the skin and actually make the skin soft and supple. Moreover, the licorice extract also does its work fairly well and after using the mask, the skin does feel clean and clear. However, the lightening does not hold good for too long and one trip outside is enough to make your skin look how it was before. It is good for instant work, but not a long term investment.

Pros of Avon Naturals Fairness Exfoliating Mask with Licorice Extract:

  • It has minute granules that exfoliates the skin well.
  • The licorice extract helps in skin lightening.
  • It is very cheap.
  • The consistency of the product is viscous and does not run like water.
  • The creamy base works well on combination skin as well, making the skin adequately moisturized without going overboard.

Cons of Avon Naturals Fairness Exfoliating Mask with Licorice Extract:

  • The fairness cannot hold for a very long time despite regular usage.
  • A good amount is required to cover the full face. Therefore, a 50 ml bottle hardly lasts for a month if used 2-3 times a week.
  • The mask does not dry well and even after 15-20 minutes, it remains moist.
  • The packaging is not user friendly. Most of the times, owing to the big hole, a lot of the mask falls out or dries up in the cap itself.

My Rating:

Will I Buy It Again?

Yes, considering that it is so cheap, I am willing to buy it just for the instant fairness and exfoliation.

Hope all IMBB beauties liked it,

Cheers to looking good always,

    1. Thanks Nissy….. I have combination skin and my t-zone is really oily, but it suited me well. The texture is creamy , but not overtly greasy. So you can give it a try.

    1. Thanks Rekha……I guess it is always present in the Avon booklet. There is also a combo offer of this mask and a cream that comes at times. You can see that one too.
