Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Face Wash
I am extremely lazy with my cleansing-toning-moisturizing routine. I do know how beneficial the CTM routine can be, but to confess, I don’t follow the proper technique because I have cleansers, toners, and moisturizers, all from different brands, and I get confused a lot about which brand’s cleanser to pair with which brand’s toner and in the end, I am unable to point out what combination of brands is working for me and what is not. So, when in this month’s Avon catalogue, they introduced a new brand of cleanser, toner, and moisturizer in the Rose Whitening range, I decided to pick up the face wash which (which also acts as a cleanser), toner, and lotion. This particular range whose main ingredient is rose and rose hips is too hard to resist. Here’s my review of the face wash and the toner.
I am refraining from reviewing the lotion and cream for now, because it’s just too early to comment on their efficacy and I would rather wait before passing a judgment.
When I was first reading the product description in the online catalogue, I was kind of intrigued as to what “rose hips” meant. I found it quite funny that even the roses’ anatomy was classified into hips and other organs, khikhikhi.
It was later that I found out that the seed pods of roses are called as rose hips. Here’s a little info:
Rose hips are the seed pods of roses. We don’t often see them anymore, because we tend to prune the faded rose blossoms to encourage more flowers. However if you leave the spent flowers on the rose bush at the end of the season, you should see these small, berry-sized, reddish seed balls, left on tips of the stems. They are actually very ornamental and birds enjoy them too.
Rose hips also have a bit of the tartness of crabapples and are a great source of vitamin C.

My Take on Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Face Wash:
I like my face washes to foam up on the face because the non-foaming face washes I have used till date have left a film or a sticky feeling behind, that requires soap to be got rid of. My other favorite foaming face wash is the Clean and Clear face wash that foams and leaves the skin squeaky clean. Avon Naturals Rose Hips face wash comes in a long 100 ml tube and the packaging is very attractive. The face wash smells of roses, especially of those home-grown ones. The consistency of the face wash is cream like, something like a vanishing cream.
At first, I squeezed a sizeable amount of face wash from the tube, but then I realized that only a small bit, maybe of the size of a 50-paise coin or much lesser is required to work up a nice lather for the entire face as well as the neck. After pat drying the face, I do not feel any kind of layer left behind by the face wash. The face wash not only makes my face wash squeaky clean, it also brightens up the face significantly with just one use.
I don’t know what ingredient they might have mixed in the cream to bring such an effect, or may be, my facial skin was too mucky and required a clean-up .
Another issue with faces washes I have is that, they dry up the skin considerably, but this particular face wash from Avon does not dry out the skin.
I am so happy with the face wash now that I never forget to use it on a regular basis. I think I am going to continue using it for a very long time because it seems to be working for me and I do not get that flimsy layer that I usually get with face washes.
Pros of Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Face Wash:
• A creamy foaming face wash that makes the face squeaky clean.
• It does not leave any kind of flimsy layer behind.
• It does not dry out the skin.
• Smells of roses, especially the home-grown variety.
• Gives skin a brightening effect after the very first use.
• Price is reasonable.
Cons of Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Face Wash:
• Contains SLS, no other con that I can think of.
Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Toner:
Toning is such an important part of skin care regimen, but I have always had this issue of toners being very stingy. All toners do have some degree of alcohol in them, which does not suit me, and I cannot take the sting and avoid the toning step altogether. Some toners did work for me, for example, Oriflame’s aloe vera soothing toner, which has only a very mild degree of alcohol in it, such that the sting is not very bad. I have almost finished up that toner and was looking for another toner. When I had picked up this Avon rose toner, I just hoped that it would not sting and it actually didn’t, yey!!! Let’s see how it worked for me.

How To Use:

Rs. 149 for 100 mL.
My Take on Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Toner:
This is another clear winner from Avon. This 100 mL see-through plastic bottle contains pinkish-tinged and a slightly viscous-appearing toner, which again smells pleasantly of wild roses just like the face wash. I use this toner after using the face wash and dab it on to a cotton pad and spread it on my face, and there is almost no stinging. I checked the ingredient list and realized that the toner does have ethyl alcohol, but I guess, the concentration might be lesser, because it does not cause pronounced stinging.
This toner does tighten up pores because I have noticed that my face is staying oil-free for quite a long time. The toner does provide a refreshing feeling and I am using this toner around three times a day and I am happy with how it is faring on me, remember it is fairing and not “fairing.” Again, like the Avon face wash, this toner is going to be a staple in my routine.
Pros of Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Toner:
• Smells pleasantly of roses, even though I know it’s an artificial fragrance, what the heck, I still love it.
• Cleanses and tones skin without stinging.
• Gives a refreshing feeling.
• I do like to believe that it has improved my skin tone.
• Keeps the face oil-free for quite a long time.
Cons of Avon Naturals Rose and Rose Hips Fairness Toner:
• Contains methylparaben.
Will I Recommend Avon Rose Hips Face Wash and Toner?
Yes, of course, those who like their face washes to foam and hate that slicky feeling, I would recommend this product to them. For those ladies who avoid toners because their toners sting badly, I would say to them that this toner is very low on the sting factor.
Will I Repurchase:
Yes, I would definitely, it is one of those rare combos of face wash and toner that is actually working me.
4/5 for both face wash and toner.
