Avon Simply Pretty Nail Enamel Glitter Galaxy, Juicy Plum, Red

3 NEW SHADES IN AVON SIMPLY PRETTY NAIL ENAMEL

The Avon Simply Pretty Nail Enamel range has been reviewed in IMBB previously, here –

These are the new sparkling shades introduced from October, 2010. They are – GLITTER GALAXY, JUICY PLUM and DEEPLY MAROON. Being sparkly, they were ideal for the festive season in India.

Among the 3, I bought Glitter Galaxy and Juicy Plum.
In the following picture, on the left is Glitter Galaxy and its swatch (double coat), and on the right is Juicy Plum and its swatch (single coat).

Avon Simply Pretty Gliiter Galaxy

Glitter Galaxy is a shimmering and translucent blackish polish, with sparkling metallic (mainly golden) particles in it. It can be worn just by itself (like I have shown) or over any other colour as a top coat.
Juicy Plum is very rich in pigmentation and one coat serves sufficiently (as seen in the picture). It is glossy + glazy and not overly ‘jhalak dikhla ja’ in its sparkly-ness. Overall, I am very happy with this colour.
I haven’t bought Deeply Maroon, but from what I saw on one of my friend’s nails, it can fit adequately in any bridal collection. The maroon is more on the red side, and the glimmering effect gives it sizzling look in the sunlight or under any other bright light (no, no! I do not mean the Edward Cullen special Sparkling-in-the-Sun thingy, but an ultra glittery smooth bridal maroon look).

My personal experience with this range of Avon nail polishes is quite good. Most often, there are offers like ‘buy 3 for Rs. 100’, which makes them dirt cheap at Rs. 33 each. The quality is quite standard too, so there are no dangers of nails turning yellow or something like that… they are chip resistant for 5 to 6 days, and somehow manage to retain the glaze and lustre for about 4 days on an average. It is not necessary to put on multiple coats for all the colours; only the ones more on the sheer side need multi coats. There are a few deeply pigmented, rich colours, like I have shown in the picture with ‘Juicy Plum’ that look shiny and opaque with one coat only.
I know it has been reviewed previously, but I am still stating these points because they were either not mentioned there, or I differ in opinion from what was stated there.
One more point I feel like adding – after recently falling into the rabbit hole that leads to the magical world of ‘nail arts’, I realised that the Avon Simply Pretty Nail Enamels are quite suitable for being the base colours for the designs. Once properly dried, they do not tend to mix with whatever is put on them and this is really a big plus.

Now that all this is said and done, and the new shades have been dealt with, let me revise a few swatches from the old (existing) range of the Avon Simply Pretty Nail Enamels.
And Scarlett is going to do swatches of… DUN, DUN, DUN… bingo! The Reds.
