Avon Sparkling Cherry Blossom Hand and Body Lotion Review

The Sparkling Cherry Blossom range was introduced by Avon in the last few months, and I had to try out at least one since I got a glowing review from a cousin. Moreover, with winter setting in slowly, one cannot say no to moisturiser.
Avon Sparkling Cherry Blossom Hand and Body Lotion
The profile goes like this :
Manufactured and marketed by – Avon.
It contains – Cherry Blossom Extract ( which Avon claims to be “a rich source of anti-oxidants to help improve skin tone and promote youthful looking skin” ), water, glycerine, mineral oil etc.
Quantity – 100ml
Price – Rs. 120.

The pearly, non oily lotion is quite smooth and pleasantly fragranced. I really liked the smell – it is balanced in being warm, floral and feminine. The texture of the lotion is also neither too thick nor too watery. It spreads evenly on the skin and a little quantity covers a large skin area and has a milky feeling.
The product is not intensely moisturising, so it works better with normal to oily skins. And there is no mention of SPF/Sunscreen anywhere. Still, it gives a silky feel to the skin when rubbed in thoroughly.

The points for which I will recommend Avon Sparkling Cherry Blossom Hand and Body Lotion:
■ it is non oily and non sticky.
■ the pearly lotion is milky and spreads evenly on skin.
■ a small quantity covers a large skin area.
■ it is pleasantly fragrant, which I personally liked a lot.
■ it makes the skin smooth and supple.
■ the product is not very expensive. 100ml of a good hand and body lotion for Rs. 120 is an economic deal.
■ the bottle is friendly enough to be carried in a purse or hand-bag.

However, I will warn against the following factors:
■ there is NO sparkle in the lotion actually.
■ it is not really for dry/very dry skins – does not provide intense moisturising.
■ the lotion does not contain and SPF/Sunscreen.
■ the moisturising does not last all day, despite the claims from the manufacturers.
■ it is not exactly suited for use when mixed with dermatological gels.

I looked up this Cherry Blossom thing on net, and this is what I gathered:
Japanese cherry blossom extract is traditionally renowned for its soothing properties, which repair skin’s natural barrier, restoring smoothness and suppleness. It effectively smoothes and softens skin. This Sparkling Cherry has a body wash too, that I am yet to use. But I have high hopes from that one as well. I am quite satisfied with this lotion, and there is a fair chance of buying it once again; and trying out the body wash too.

Overall Rating – I will give this product a 3.75 out of 5.

  3. Nice review Scarlett. :)) You summarized the pros and cons pretty well. I know now that this lotion probably isn’t for me because I have super dry skin. :island: You reminded me too to use SPF…I’m so bad with that. What body lotion with SPF for daily use would you suggest? 🙂

    1. Scarlett thanks for the suggestions! :)) I have lotions but none with SPF, so these are great…I’ll be checking out the Avon Skin So Soft Satin Glow when I go shopping for presents. :jiggy1: And also the Victoria’s Secret one on ebay. I love bronzey, shimmery stuff for parties.

  6. Hey Scarlett, I’ve used it too. I wasn’t that impressed with it. The sparkling bit is misguiding. I fell for it too :wilt: Anyhow, like you said it doesn’t moisturize for too long. needs to be reapplied yes. I’m guessing they wanted to make something that would be just about right for the hands not whole body. Its not oily so can be used in summers too!

  7. i dermatologist says that i m allergic to the the universally most accepted hyposensitive product aloe vera :woot:

one day i tried lotus aloe vera moisturizer gel and ta da i turned into red panda :pissedoff: …..
though i m didnt develop rahes from the products which has small amount of aloe vera present in it ……strange i think i belong to planet M 8) or aloe vera alone is not good for me

p.s . lotus herbal is in my love list and my mom totally adore lotus aloe moisturizer and its other product line.
