Ayur Herbal Shampoo Review

AYUR HERBAL SHAMPOO- AMLA & SHIKAKAI WITH REETHA

By Vinita K.

Hi girls!

This is my first post ever and I’m super excited 🙂 to be a part of IMBB. I have been following IMBB for the last one year and it has been fun.

I am going to review Ayur’s herbal shampoo. It has Amla , Shikakai and Reetha in it. All are considered to be good for the hair. I picked this up because I wanted something herbal for my hair and Ayur is a very well known brand. I had tried their face wash a few years back for my oily skin. Okay now let us come back to the shampoo.

My take on Ayur herbal shampoo
I always thought that herbal products are completely herbal but when I saw the ingredients of this shampoo I actually realised that it has got so many chemicals in it! Maybe that’s the reason why they have mentioned that it should be used only once or twice a week and not daily.

This shampoo has a little runny consistency and is brownish in colour. When I use it to wash my hair after a week I really require a lot of it. It lathers well and has a mild herbal fragrance that doesn’t linger for long. After the wash my hair feels soft and smooth. I have been using it for more than a month now. I feel it is good. It does condition my hair as I have not been using any kind of conditioner after my wash. It has not actually controlled my dandruff but let’s see maybe it will over a period of time.

Pros

  •  Very pocket friendly.
  •  Easily available.
  •  Contains herbal extracts.
  • Has a conditioning effect.

Cons

  •  A lot of product is needed for a single wash.
  •  Has a runny consistency.
  •  Not 100% herbal.

Will I repurchase this product?
Maybe yes, I would like to try their other variants.

IMBB Rating: 3.5/5 (Because of the chemicals in it)

  1. me sure not Rati!!! nevertheless, good review 🙂 i used this shampoo 1ce….8 or 9 yrs back at least! dint like it much though 🙁

  2. I had tried this but not much impressed but their face packs are worth. using their sunscreen for my body and evn thats quite impressive.

    1. Oh! actually I apply lots of oil and then wash my hair , maybe that is why it doesn’t dry out my hair so much.

  3. I have used ayur shampoos extensively around 15-17 years ago. We used to buy 1 500ml bottle for everyone at home :-P. At that time, i used to put tons of oil too, ayur was so mild [all the ones ] that oil did not wash off at one go. But the moment i had found Ultr doux of Garnier i used to buy 500 mils of that..Right now i use Ayur coconut but only for lazy days .its the best of the lot.But no, Ayur shampoos are not good.It makes great pedicure shampoo though ! I really only like Garnier and Pantene [especially nourished shine and total damage] now. Garnier fructis makes my hair look like strands of silk without conditioner. No more experimenting for me now ! i am done with shampoos ..for lazy days its going to be only garnier fructis and regularly only reetha liquid

  4. I had tried this some years ago, and it dried my hair out like CRAZY!!! And yes, I was pretty stupid to buy the huge 500 mL pack! 😛
That was the time when I thought that if they said ‘herbal’ it would be good for my hair. 😀
I would never recommend this to anyone, not even to those with oily hair!

  5. this product wrks for sure n effect lasts for a month after i changed this one n i think tht v need to be regulr wth ayur products for long to see the benefits…
