BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Straightening Flat Iron Review

This post is the review of a product I bought thanks to the Sponsored Product Scheme of IMBB…Thank you guys so much!!! Recently, I reviewed a Paul Mitchell flat iron and before that, I have used cheaper variants by Conair and Remington. They all served their purpose well, but all these flat irons have a fixed life time beyond which they start “frying” hair and add a lot of static and frizz to it as well. Obviously, the one by Paul Mitchell performed better compared to the other two options, but I still felt the need to explore further in this realm and see if I can find a better option. Hence, I decided to invest in a better alternative with an advanced and gentler technology.

My Experience with BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Straightening Flat Iron:

This flat iron comes in a clear, plastic box but it is flimsy and cannot be used for storing the iron (a small disadvantage since some other higher-end flat irons come in a hard, cardboard box to safe keep the product). It has a 1” wide titanium plates which is the current fad in the flat iron industry and is the biggest selling point of this product because titanium is a good conductor, it is fairly non-reactive, easy to clean, and is strong as well (will not easily wear or tear).

The outer covering of the flat iron is made up of hard plastic (although I am not too fond of the color) and has a round curvature which is perfect to make curls or waves. It has a “on” button and “+” and “-“ buttons to control temperature and there is also an option to save our favorite temperature setting for future uses. It has a LED digital display to show the temperature value. It can reach up to 450 F in about 30 seconds which is essential for me because the Remington and the Conair flat irons that I have, would take a while to heat up to its full capacity. The titanium plates heat evenly and the outer plastic casing still remains at room temperature.

The rear end of the flat iron (connection to the wire) can swivel 360 degrees which comes in handy while curling hair. The wire is of adequate length and is neither too short or too long and cumbersome. It has an auto shut option which is perfect for people who prep their hair in a hurry and can forget to turn it off. It, however, does not have a mechanical lock to close it and it stays open – this seems a little unsanitary to me and also, it renders it a little travel unfriendly.

This iron gives poker straight hair on my Chinese friends. My hair is dense and wavy, so I do not get poker straight hair, but pretty good straight hair.

Overall, it is a good product and does what it claims, I enjoyed using it more than the one by Paul Mitchel because it is smoother on my hair and doesn’t tug or pull on hair while making curls. It has a less damaging effect on hair, especially when paired with a good heat protectant. No matter the price, I do recommend using a good heat protectant with any brand’s heating tools.

Pros of BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Straightening Flat Iron:

  • It is a good hair iron with less damaging effect on hair, but I still recommend a good heat protectant, especially to those who use heating tools on a regular basis.
  • It has titanium plates which are better at conducting heat as compared to ceramic and steel plates. They are also less damaging to hair and easier to clean.
  • It is available in most retail stores and also online.
  • It heats up quickly – 450 F in about 30 seconds.
  • It has an option to save our favorite setting for future use.
  • It has an auto shut down option.
  • It has a round curvature and facilitates hair curling and waving.
  • Its rear end can swivel 360 degrees and it makes hair curling easier.
  • It glides smoothly on hair and does not tug or pull.

Cons of BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium Straightening Flat Iron:

  • It is expensive and that is a major letdown for some of us.
  • It is not available in drugstore and must be bought online or stores like Ulta.
  • It does not have a mechanical lock and that makes it less travel friendly.

I thank IMBB again for giving me the opportunity to buy this product and review it. I enjoyed using this product and do recommend it to others as well.
