I have literally a ton of curling irons and flat irons in my vanity. Recently, I bought the Babyliss ST290E Rotating Pro Styler 5 in 1 online as I wanted to style my hair in a different way. So, let’s get into the review.

My Experience with Babyliss ST290E Rotating Pro Styler 5 in 1:
The unique feature of this styler is that it claims to style your hair in curls, flat waves or straighten them. I personally love poker straight hair but, it is far from my imagination since my hair is getting curlier day by day.
This styler comes with a unique barrel which provides a nice shine to the hair fibres by polishing it. It is meant to smooth out the frizz and static by revolving in the same direction as you pull down the styler to curl your hair. Yes, it is slightly complicated but remember, you need to shift the button of the bi-directional barrel in the direction you would like to use the pro styler.
The styler comes with a lot of heat settings; 30 being the highest which is suitable to style coarse and thick hair. The setting number 15 can be used to style fine hair or hair with less volume. However, a heat protectant is a must in any case.
The styler curls and provides a nice volume to my hair which I love. You can see the shape inside and this could give you a bounce in your hair instead of making it super straight. It can also curl the crown section easily. But, I find it complicated to twist the iron around the hair for creating curls as my hair is naturally curly.
I love the combs attached to the body as they can be easily removed. For the comb chase method, I don’t need to use another tail comb to straighten my hair. To clean the barrel, you can remove it from the iron and it can be twisted and locked back easily.
The styler takes a minute or two to heat up and to style my thick hair, I usually prefer using the highest heat setting. I never got poker straight hair with this iron as it pumps up more volume into my hair. In case you are looking to add volume to your hair, this can work great. I have not noticed much frizz control or smoothening of the hair fibres but yes, it is slightly a notch above the regular irons for sure.

- I like how the plates are curved to add some shape to the hair.
- Good for straightening and curling.
- You can sculpt your hair out or inwards at the ends of the curved plate.
- The side comb really helps to ease your hair while being styled.
Cons of Babyliss ST290E Rotating Pro Styler 5 in 1:
- Very heavy.
- Doesn’t control frizz.
- The bi-directional barrel switch and the whole mechanism confuses me sometimes.
- The rotating barrel does not add much shine or texture, nothing brilliant.

Will I Recommend/Repurchase Babyliss ST290E Rotating Pro Styler 5 in 1?
Not really, I think this can be worth a try for medium fine hair which is easier to style. For very thick curly hair, this may do the job only at very high temperatures.
