I want to share my horrible makeover experience. Maybelline was offering free makeovers at DLF Mall, Saket in Delhi on Valentine weekend. I asked for Matte makeup, smokey eyes and nude lips. I told them to use dream matte foundation and mousse blush because I wanted to test these out before purchase. First one MUA started doing my face and halfway through another came, told this one to go. She wiped my face clean and started all over again!!! I was wearing a black shirt and told the new MUA to give me smokey eyes to go with these very clothes. She gave me silver and black smokey eye!!! I was headed to a club later that evening and had planned to sport the same makeup. When I saw the finished look, I was aghast! She had used powder blush in Apricot Flush on me and not what I asked. She gave me a glossy brown lip instead of nude. Also, the blush was far too close to my hairline and did nothing for my cheeks. Moreover, it was streaky . 🙁 When I finally came home, I had no time to do everything again so I just blended out the blush. Fortunately, I have apricot flush so I used it on my cheeks to let it show. I also wiped out the gloss and applied Lakme Enrich Matte # 127 with nude lipgloss from ULTA. I had no time to redo the eyes so was stuck with this 🙁 So much for free makeovers…
Two days later, me and hubs were to go out again. This time, I had about an hour to get ready. This is what I came up with –
I used bronze and purple eye shadow from an ULTA beauty kit. Although, it does not look like a smokey eye, I quite liked the overall effect. The pic is a night shot with flash and the colours aren’t true, but you can see what I was trying to go for! And for the first time ever, I used two blushes! When I looked at pics from both the evenings, I found the latter a tad better because they were much more me!
In the week thereafter, I was having a bad hair day. That for me spells D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R. I look absolutely terrible, my confidence plummets and I am generally low. But that day, I decided to fight it. So, I pulled out a beige silk kurta and tried to recreate this look of Rati’s. (https://makeupandbeauty.com/everyday-eye-makeup-look-tutorial )I used a taupe powder shadow, kajal, powder blush (since I don’t own any cream ones) and a soft brown lippie. As soon as I stepped out, hubby commented that I was looking good. That too on a bad hair day! Thanks Rati!
And these days, I rarely step out of the house without at least a liner, blush and lip colour! I have started collecting loads of eye pencils in all sorts of colours and expanding my lipbalm, gloss and lipstick collection like crazy! Blushes are next…. All because of you gals…. All the beauty bloggers out there…. 😉
