Today’s review is about Barbara Hofmann Basic Series Eyeshadow Brush 123301. I own a few Barbara Hofmann brushes and impressed with a few, i have around 5 different series which vary in quality as well as cost. The brush I am reviewing today is from the Basic Series which is the lowest range in terms of price and quality.

My Experience with Barbara Hofmann Basic Series Eyeshadow Brush 123301:
When I bought this brush, it had no plastic or cardboard packaging. It was totally bare. I had to wash the product after purchase and before first use to make sure that it was clean.The basic brushes are all black and plastic and quality wise this is not the best one. They feel very light to hold. The thickness and the length are good enough.
The bristles are dark black in color and are made of synthetic bristles. I normally don’t prefer animal hair as it’s difficult to maintain the brushes. I have washed it once and I noticed no fall. I just don’t have the patience to take the extra care for animal hair brushes. I generally wash my brushes once a week and use the same method for all. I just apply some shampoo and scrub it on my palm, then rinse.They are good as new.
One advantage of having black bristles is the brush doesn’t look dirty even after few uses.The bristles are flat and angled. I use it to apply eye shadow under my eyelid. The bristles are tightly packed and look dense. The bristles also pick up eye shadow well. The one big thing I didn’t like about the brush is the prickly bristles. They are not at all soft and it pricks when used. The skin under the eye is very sensitive and I feel the prickly bristles kind of damages the skin on long run.
Overall, I am not at all satisfied with the product. Every time I want to use the brush, it reminds me of the prick and I stay away from applying the eye shadow under the bottom eyelids. It’s definitely not a good buy. Might be if someone is new to makeup and does not want to invest in expensive brushes then you can give it a try. Its definitely not the best but works.

Will I Recommend/Repurchase Barbara Hofmann Basic Series Eyeshadow Brush 123301?
Never. I hate the prickly feeling under my eyes and will not use the one I have. Go for it if you are on budget and can bear the prickly feeling.
