Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Review

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Review

I am an oily-skinned beauty. My skin tends to get so oily, especially during summers, that I sometimes wonder if I should start supplying some to Reliance or Indian oil ;), at least I shall be able to make some money out of it!  In my constant battle against greasy, shiny, sticky skin, I added one more product to my makeup arsenal-the Mineral Veil.  It was actually a present from my BF when he returned from abroad (no he has no idea regarding makeup. His sister in the US is the one who did all the shopping). So anyway, I have been using it for a few months now and it’s totally ready to be reviewed!

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Review

Product Description:

A luminous 100% pure bareMinerals finishing powder for the face.

What it is formulated to do: For the ultimate, translucent “finishing touch” to your makeup, Mineral Veil melts into your skin, infusing it with softness and light, giving the look you see with a soft focus camera lens. Buff on Mineral Veil over bareMinerals Foundation to lend extra staying power.  Completely sheer and ideal for all skin tones, Mineral Veil gently absorbs oil and minimizes the appearance of lines and pores without the buildup of pressed or loose powders that contain parabens, waxes, dyes and binders.

Mineral Foundation 1

Ingredients:

0.3oz Tinted Mineral Veil: Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Corn Starch Modified, Zinc Stearate, Magnesium Stearate. (+/-): Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499).

Price:

$20 for 0.3oz/ 9g

Shelf Life:

1 year from opening the jar.

It is available in 4 variants: Illuminating mineral veil, Sheer mineral veil, Tinted mineral veil and hydrating mineral veil.

Since the jar doesn’t mention, I believe I have the sheer mineral veil.

Mineral Loose Powder 1

The packaging is excellent – small, handy, lightweight. The jar has two compartments. Lower compartment contains the powder, which can be sifted to the upper compartment by shaking the jar. A plastic plug is provided to prevent any extra spillage. So, when you need more powder, simply remove the plug and shake the jar. This little feature makes the usage much less messy even while travelling. You can simply toss the jar into your handbag, without any worries.

The powder itself is very finely milled, lightweight and soft. It disappears on the skin and reduces the visibility of pores and fine lines. Very little product is required for the whole face and even if you end up being a little heavy handed, it doesn’t look cakey.

It has no shimmer, and therefore, ideal for daily use. It prolongs the staying power of the makeup underneath and also controls shine.  Since my skin is extremely oily, it get’s shiny within 3 hours of powdering during summers. In winters, however, it keeps the oil in check for around 5 hours easily. I also use it during my evenings out where it does an excellent job of holding my makeup in place and photographs turn out beautifully.

Mineral Loose Powder 2

I sometimes just dust the mineral veil all over my face without applying any makeup underneath, if I am in a hurry. It keeps my face looking fresh.  The product has no fragrance and the company claims it to be free of:

–Parabens.
– Sulfates.
– Synthetic Fragrances.
– Synthetic Dyes.
– Petrochemicals.
– Phthalates.

This is a huge plus point for me.  It has never broken me out although I have an acne-prone skin.

Summing up the pros and the cons:

Mineral Loose Powder

Pros of Bare Minerals Mineral Veil:

  • Simple yet extremely convenient packaging, which makes it comparatively less messy than the other loose powders.
  • Free of a whole load of chemical junk and preservatives usually found in most of our cosmetic products.
  • No fragrance.
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and large pores.
  • Controls shine and keeps the makeup fresh for a longer period of time.
  • Doesn’t look cakey.
  • Reasonable price.
  • Has not caused any breakouts.

Cons of Bare Minerals Mineral Veil:

  • Not available in India!
  • Not best for oily-skinned beauties in summers.

Will I Repurchase Bare Minerals Mineral Veil?

Definitely! (But, I would like to try the Tinted Veil next). I love it even if it doesn’t control oil properly in summers. Frankly, I can’t blame the powder for my skin’s bad behavior!

IMBB Rating:

4.25/5 (minus 0.5 for limited shine control and 0.25 for non-availability in India).

I hope this helped! Take care!
