Bare Minerals READY Blush in The French Kiss
Hey Guys!
Writing for a beauty blog usually means that I do plenty of research before buying any product. I rarely buy a product based solely on impulse. Even if I’m walking down the aisle at Wal-Mart and something catches my eye, I just have to look up the reviews and swatches on my phone before I consider picking it up. This isn’t true about the product I’ll be reviewing today; it was bought solely on impulse. Frankly, this blush wasn’t even on my radar until recently. I went into a Bare Minerals store to buy a foundation and the SA brought out a couple of blush shades for me to try over my foundation. The French Kiss immediately caught my eye. I tried it on and instantly decided to get it. Well, now it’s time for me to review it. To see whether my love at first sight blossomed in to a long-term romance, read on!

My Experience with BareMinerals Ready Blush in The French Kiss
This is my first blush from BareMinerals’ Ready line, which basically is a pressed mineral blush instead of a powder one. I absolutely and totally would take this packaging over the powder blushes. It’s portable, doesn’t spill anywhere and comes with a large mirror that’s great not only for touch-ups, but also for applying all your makeup. I love the sleek, matte-black packaging of the blush, and even though the packaging is a little larger than other blushes I own, it’s slim, light and won’t weigh down your makeup bag. Anyway, enough about the packaging (which I obviously can’t stop raving about) let’s get to the product!
The French Kiss is a vibrant, cool-toned watermelon pink. It’s an extremely pigmented shade that offers buildable color; but trust me you will not need more than one light swipe of this blush — that’s how pigmented it is. The color shows up beautifully on my NC40 (tan, warm undertones) skin tone. For a more natural flush, I like to lightly dust this on the apple of my cheeks. When I want to bring my inner diva out, patting it all along my cheekbone it is. This is the kind of blush true blush aficionados would wear; think someone like Miranda Kerr or Kareena Kapoor. Basically, women who love to play up their cheeks. If used right this will make you look youthful, however using a heavy hand will quickly put you in clown territory.
So, when I bought this I really didn’t think it was a long-wearing blush; I bought it based on the color alone and didn’t know anything about the formula. I’m more than pleased to tell y’all that this blush just lasts and lasts. Even though it promises an 8-hour wear, I’ve worn it all day (10+ hours when my days start early) with no touch-ups. This does last longer over liquid foundation than it does over mineral powder foundation, though. I love that the color stays vibrant all day and doesn’t start getting patchy as time goes on (like some blushes do as they start wearing off!). The blush has never broken me out, even though I have combination, acne-prone skin. Nor does it enhance my pores or dry spots.
There are multiple reasons to like this blush: it is extremely pigmented, applies smoothly, the powder is very finely milled and it lasts hours and hours. However, it does have one drawback. Well, technically the blush doesn’t have any flaws; it’s the darn brush that comes with it! Now, let me start by saying that as far as brushes packaged with products come, this is pretty good. The brush is soft and doesn’t shed all over my cheeks; however, it’s impossible to apply this blush decently with the brush. Application is streaky and I’m not a fan of patches of darker and lighter color all over my cheeks. I save using it for emergencies (like rushing out of the home because I’m late and blush is one of the last things I apply) but overall I’m not a fan of this brush!
Bottom line is, this is a great blush (with or without the brush) and totally perfect if you’re looking for that ‘pop’ on your cheeks!
