I’m going on a writing spree today and writing one article after the other and I don’t think I am going to finish any time soon because there’s a table full of products that I want to review. 🙂 I’m just picking at random here, and the one I’m going to review now is brand new.

I want to finish writing about this product in particular because I spent the longest time figuring out its name! Seriously, why don’t the labels say everything in English? Well, I finally did figure it out so here goes. 🙂

The name is strange and it is a mouthful – bareMinerals Brown Eye Color in ‘Sex Kitten’. As much as that annoys me, I bought this because the SA convinced me that this is the only color I needed for a Smokey-eye. Was she right? Almost 🙂

I just want to give bareMinerals a big thumbs up for this packaging. Honestly, I thought powders in tiny containers are a huge mess, but this packaging proved me wrong. The tiny container comes with a black lid, ideal bareMinerals packaging. What I love is the inner lid, which has small openings to dispense a little product. This keeps the rest of the product hygienic and also prevents any sort of mess. Anyone who is really clumsy with tiny jars? Your prayers have been answered. 🙂

Texture: Super fine, powder that you can blend or build. Has a good amount of shimmer in it.

Color: The color is described as a deep chestnut brown. The best way I can describe this color is chocolate with gold glitter. The color is rich and opaque. This can be blended to look like almost a hint of color and glitter on your eyes, but it can also be built to look like a rich, dark color on them.

My Experience with bareMinerals Brown Eye Color in Sex Kitten.

When the sales assistant demonstrated how to use this one color to create the effect of a Smokey eye, I got that she was right and that she wasn’t just trying to push the product on me.

This product is so convenient and easy to use; it can be blended and built with just your fingers, really! I was surprised at how that dark brown color turned into a subtle nude on really blending it.

One thing to note about this product is how little you need. The color is so rich and opaque/pigmented that a teeny-tiny bit of product will cover your entire eye. A little goes for the longest time. The product is preservative-free, it will not cause any eye irritation – well it didn’t for me atleast and I’ve used it quite a few times. However, it comes off with the slightest touch; make sure you use a good eye-shadow primer to combat this issue. 🙂 If you don’t touch your eyes, the staying power is great!

Since this shimmer is really intense, I don’t usually prefer this for an everyday color. It can be translucent when blended well, but I have better options to use. For those of you who don’t have other options, this will be great for you guys! For weddings and parties, I love this. 🙂 It gives your eyes great definition and sparkle. I feel like this is a must have for Indian weddings!

The reason I said that the SA was ‘almost’ right, when she said this is all I need for a Smokey eye, is that the shimmer in this product is really intense. If I use only this for the entire look, my eyes will have too much shimmer, which I cannot pull off. I did like it in the lighting under the store, but when I tried it later in normal lighting, I realized that my Smokey eye had too much shimmer. It didn’t look bad, but I can’t pull off such heavy eyes.

All in all, it is not the ‘only’ color you need for a Smokey eye, but it is an excellent eye shadow by itself. It feels very light on your lids and does not irritate your skin at all. 🙂

• Availability – bareMinerals is hardly available in India.
• Shimmer may be a little intense for some. (Blend, blend and blend away girls! It will do the trick 🙂 )
• Eye shadow primer might be necessary if you regularly touch your eyes.
