bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream Review

Hello everyone,

When it comes to bareMinerals foundations, I haven’t had much luck except in the case of the Original bareMinerals foundation (the one which comes in a loose powder form) which is my HG foundation till today, but this particular product from bareMinerals was getting a lot of hype and it actually won an Allure best in beauty award, so that drove me to buy it hoping this time I might get lucky 🙂

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

Product Description:
A versatile gel cream that combines skin care benefits and naturally radiant coverage in one.

  • Mineral-based formulation that combines the best of a BB, a CC, and a tinted moisturizer to provide increased skin hydration after just one week.
  • Features SPF 30 sun protection.
  • Comes in 10 shades.

This versatile cream achieves dewy, sheer-to-medium coverage to give skin a radiant, soft, and smooth-looking appearance. My Experience with bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream:

Packaging:  Comes in a simple squeeze tube. Very easy and convenient to use and also travel with.

Texture and Consistency:  The texture of this product is like a hybrid between a gel and cream. It is not as thick as cream but it has a very noticeable slip of a gel as you rub it into your skin. The slip does not feel silicone-y. It is neither too thick nor too thin just the perfect in between.

Application:  I found the best method to apply this is with your clean fingers using a patting motion. Using a brush gave me streaky finish and a sponge resulting in a lot of product getting absorbed and yielding an even sheerer coverage. Using the patting motion as opposed to a dragging motion ensures a streak-free finish.

Coverage and Finish:  The coverage of this product ranges from sheer to light. It does even out my skin tone to some extent and reduces the appearance of redness, but I do have to follow up with a concealer to address my major concerns. I do have fairly clear skin to begin hence I do not prefer using a heavy coverage on a regular basis when I am out and about running errands, so this is perfect for me. If you prefer a heavy-coverage product, you might find this lacking, but you could manipulate the coverage by using a product like Coverfx Custom Cover Drops, which I have done on occasions and it works great.

This product has a radiant, glowy, dewy finish on the skin. Due to this reason, I don’t think this product is suitable for oily skin.

For dry skin like mine, that is a huge boon, as it instantly improves the appearance of my dry and dehydrated skin and makes it look supple and fresh. It did look the best as at the thinnest layer and not when piled on heavily.

Feel on skin:  I did not find this product to completely set on my skin. It does get absorbed into the skin, but there is the slightest bit of tacky feel on the skin, hence I do prefer to always set this with a light dusting of loose powder and that take cares of the issue.

This product feels lightweight on the skin but does feel a tad bit heavier (more hydrating) version of just a tinted moisturizer. This product does have one quality about it that I don’t like, and which took me by surprise. Though it did not cause any more dryness on my skin, it did cling to my existing dry patches and made them more visible. I found exfoliating prior to using this product to get rid of those dry patches helped a lot. It did not settle into fine lines.

Regarding the claim of it increasing the skin hydration after just one week, I cannot support that since I do not wear makeup every day and when I did wear this, I did not notice any difference in how my skin was after I took it off.

Shade:

This product comes in 10 shades. I have the shade “05 Natural,” which is my perfect match. It is described as being for those with medium skin tone with neutral undertone.

Staying Power:

The staying power is pretty average. It wore for about 4-5 hours before showing some signs of fading around my oilier areas like the chin and under eyes. Since it is quite sheer in the first place, the fading wasn’t that super obvious.

Overall, I do think this is a good product, especially for those with dry skin and those who love that glowy, radiant, and healthy look to the skin. I love the fact it has SPF 30 and is mineral based. I will recommend this.
