Hola bonita chica’s!
I just randomly realised today that I have been saying hello to all of you in Spanish incorrectly! It is Hola and not Ola and that is what I have been saying all along! Well, I believe in setting mistakes right as soon as I notice them, so I hope you guys forgive me for butchering my Spanish, but I am only learning it now slowly. This actually reminds me of a funny incident where my brother who took Spanish in high school tried to crack one of my passwords on my computer and the hint for the password was “Nombre.” He tried putting every number he could think of that related to me (because nombre sounds like “number” right?) only for me to remind him much later that it means name!” So much for being a good Spanish student! 😛 Anyway, I have such a fantastic product for you today, so let me tell you lots of things about it.
I rarely ever call any of my products Holy Grail products, but this one is definitely one of those very rare times. I have finally found a Holy Grail concealer! I am so excited to tell you all the wonderful things about it. This concealer is quite like the Phoarrr concealer that I have reviewed earlier in its packaging. It is sleek and tiny and can fit anywhere. It has a flip top lid with plastic packaging and also has a very handy mirror inside to help you apply, or for touch ups. The lid closes securely, opens easily and is extremely lightweight.
USD 20 and GBP 21 for a measly 2 gram of product, so this stuff is pretty expensive, but you also need very little to apply each time.
My Experience with bareMinerals Correcting Concealer Broad Spectrum SPF 20:
I have been trying to write this review for the longest time, but I literally cannot put into words how amazing this concealer is. Now because I want to give you A LOT of information about this product, I am going to warn you straight on that this is going to be a long review. Let me start by telling you a little bit about the shades that are available. I feel like you could choose your appropriate shade just by reading this information, so here is a list!
Light 1/Medium 1/Tan 1: For light/medium/tan complexions with cool skin tones.
Light 2/Medium 2/Tan 2: For light/medium/tan complexions with neutral and warm skin tones.
Dark 2: For dark complexions
Deep 2: For deep complexions.
See! Isn’t that just easy peasy! Now, the sales lady was the one who handed me “Tan 1” even though I have always been under the impression that my NC 30-40 skin tone (depending if it is winter or summer) had more neutral and warm undertones, but “Tan 1” has worked really well for me too. The consistency of this concealer is so amazingly creamy, you only just need to touch your ring finger in it very lightly and the tiny amount of product that transfers is enough to work its magic on your under eyes.
Now, I do have a mix of those blue veins that are visible through my under eye skin as well as just really bad dark brown hyperpigmentation that causes dark circles if I do not get a good night’s rest. This shade has enough pigment to conceal the dark brown and also has some orange undertones to cancel out the blue, so this works amazing to cover up all my problems. The creamy consistency is also ridiculously smooth and very easily blendable. Even though I use my fingers, you can use a fluffy brush to apply this as well.
The best thing I like about this product is how natural it looks when I use it. It is slowly becoming a staple, just like kajal. I mean you know how you want to feel just a little made up for that lazy Sunday morning run for groceries. Kajal, lip gloss and this concealer does it for me.
Also, I have started wearing this to the gym quite often because once this is on, it does not budge. It literally lasts more than 24 hours, although I do not suggest leaving it on for that long because I had a lazy evening recently where I left my post-gym kajal, lip gloss and concealer on as I dozed off only to wake up the next morning with itchy eyes. So. always wash off that makeup before bed ladies!
Again, this looks so natural once it is on, but if you only have this, it will crease and settle in fine/expression lines. The good thing is that ANY powder will set this concealer and then it will not crease. I also love that this product has sunscreen in it. I am currently addicted to my MUFE HD foundation (I’m number 155) and at times I do not even go over my immediate eye area with my foundation, just using this concealer gives a natural enough look. However, the coverage that this concealer provides is medium at best and if I do want that flawless look, I just go over my under eyes with my foundation for a look more suited for the evenings.
This product has not broken me out when I have used this on my blemishes. It does not accentuate any dryness and works well with my combination-oily skin. Neither does it look cakey when applied. I do not see a lot of African-American women easily finding a shade that will match them, but I think there is plenty of a selection for Indian skin tones.
There is no flaking associated with the use of this product and all I can think is that this product is a little pricey for the 2 grams we get, but I figure this will last you 4-6 months easily even if you use it every day.
The finish this product gives is so silky and it almost feels and looks like you are wearing a dab of liquid foundation when you apply this to your under eyes. When I say Holy Grail, I really do mean Holy Grail!! The one thing I do not entirely agree with is the statement that this product diminishes the appearance of dark spots and circles over time because this is not a skin care product. It is just makeup and none of the ingredients (especially lemon peel extract) do what they claim to, at least not for me.
The ingredients have an awful lot of chemicals in it and even alcohol is listed in them. However, it does claim to not contain parabens, sulphates, synthetic dyes and fragrances, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMO’s and triclosan. It also covers red blotches around my face that I get at times because I have sensitive skin and also the redness around my pimple. Even on its own, this photographs really well and under foundation, this literally photographs like a dream. You can also see in my photograph the difference this makes as I have used this on my under eye, but not on the area on the side of my nose and the inner corner of my eyelid. This is definitely my Holy Grail concealer. Will it be yours?
