bareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam Review

Hello beauties 🙂

How are you doing today? Wish you all a very happy Hartalika teej and Ganesh chaturthi! Finally, the festival season has commenced and in a few days from now, we all will be busy with navratre dandiya or karwachauth pooja! I am more excited this time for my gal, now that she has grown up and understands everything pretty well. I can already see a budding saree fan in her while she wears my sarees with utmost grace and confidence, say touchwood! 😛 I am sure my gal will definitely cherish and love our colorful culture in the form of these wonderful festivals. Anyway before a mother inside me hijacks this review, let’s talk about today’s product.

I believe in rotation, as in replacing skin care and hair care regimen every 4-5 months or simply using multiple products (alternatively) to target multiple concerns as there is no wonder potion that would take care of all skin and hair care concerns.  In the planning stages of my trip, I splurged on many skin care and makeup products.  Today, I will talk about one such skin care product, which seems to be a good option for gentle cleansing though it is not meant for clogged pores and/or problematic skin.  Let’s check out more details about bareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam!

Price:
$20 for 4.2 Oz, excludes shipping and taxes.

Product Description:
A gentle cleanser that forms a light, creamy lather.  It deeply cleanse skin and lifts away impurities. Powered by the 100% pure ActiveSoil Complex, this non-drying formula bursts into a rich lather when activated with water to deep-clean pores, instantly refresh skin, and give you a naturally luminous glow. Over time, it is clinically proven to reveal brighter, smoother, younger-looking skin; reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; and remarkably smaller-looking pores.

My Experience with bareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam:

The foamy cleanser comes in a thick opaque tube packaging with a close lock cap, nothing fancy here. I like its mild smell which is not overpowering thankfully! Overall, I find it quite an user-friendly and travel-friendly packaging as I had carried it on my trip, and it didn’t show any signs of leakage or damage.

I bought this cleanser to alternate with Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser though I am not very happy with this purchase when I compare it to the Derma E cleanser, for a number of reasons. Firstly, I am glad that a smallest drop of this cleanser gives me intense rich lather to cover up the entire face and neck, but then, I don’t get squeaky clean feeling because of my clogged pores and oily skin concerns. I mean my biggest mistake while on the trip was to solely rely on this cleanser.  I hadn’t packed Boscia Konjac sponge and Derma E Cleanser, hence I suffered from uneven skin texture and dry patchy skin all the time.

What’s more? I often slept with makeup on (just primer and powder) which obviously showed after effects when I woke up with zits, clogged pores every morning.  With this cleanser, I didn’t get that “squeaky clean”, refined and exfoliated soft skin.  As it couldn’t exfoliate my skin well, I could see a few dry patches on my skin even after cleansing and moisturizing it well.  On the other hand, Boscia Konjac sponge alone can give me squeaky clean, refined skin texture, irrespective of whether I use a cleanser or not.

Even I follow it with nighttime CTM routine, there is no change in its performance, just that my night time regimen took care of my dull skin. Although, I did see a bit of reduction in my pore size, I could still see dirt in my pores, hence I had to take the help of a primer to blur my open pores.  This also explains that it might not be useful for acne-prone skin and/or oily skin concerns since it does not help in cleaning pores and/or removing blackheads/whiteheads.

Probably my irregular sleep schedule, makeup blunders and then my weird skin type in the hot Las Vegas weather all created havoc and this cleanser too failed me. However, I have been using it post the trip and I did not see any wonderful results on my skin; it just cleanses my skin topically topically, but it does not clean thoroughly.  Using this cleanser along with Boscia Konjac sponge does work very well on my skin making it silky, soft and even textured with refined pores, but this cleanser alone is incapable of giving me any such results.

I feel this cleanser will best suit normal, combination skin types with minor skin concerns. Thankfully, the cleanser did not aggravate my skin concerns and my skin does not feel stretchy after using it.  But this feature alone is not enough for me to purchase it again. I will go back to Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser, which is not perfect, but works pretty better than this cleanser, that too at almost fraction of the price.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of bareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam:

  • A mild foaming cleanser that gently cleanses skin, keeping oil at bay for quite a few hours.
  • Did not rip off moisture from my skin.
  • A small drop of cleanser forms a rich lather, which is enough for the whole face and neck.
  • Does not irritate sensitive, acne-prone skin.
  • Travel-friendly packaging.

Cons of bareMinerals Deep Cleansing Foam:

  • It did not show any exfoliating results on my skin as I could still see dry patchy skin even after using it regularly.
  • Does not deep clean clogged pores, has no effect on blackheads/whiteheads.
  • Does not prevent acne/blemishes.
  • Tricky for sensitive skin.
  • Considering its average performance, I feel its way too pricey even if it lasts for a whole year, especially for oily, combination skin beauties with multiple skin concerns.

To be fair, I believe this cleanser is best suitable for normal, combination skin types with no major concerns unlike someone like me who wakes up with clogged pores and zits these days. There is no doubt it will work well on flawless clear skin as it gently clears oil, dirt off the face. I need a stronger cleansing and exfoliation method to get rid of the gunk, clogged pores on a regular basis.
