Tips and Tricks:

My Experience with bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15:

I was on the lookout for a mineral foundation for a long time. The reason being I wanted a change from the usual liquid and cream foundations. Also, I had seen videos of Youtube beauty gurus rave about this product and came across the fact that this was an award-winning foundation. The thing that sealed the deal for me was that I read this foundation was actually good for the skin. Formulated without parabens, binders, fillers, or synthetic chemicals, it is proven to make skin healthier with continuous usage.  Now, who doesn’t want a makeup which doubles as skin care. BB creams also have a similar concept, but I felt they did not give adequate coverage.

With this foundation, I got the best of both makeup and skin care and I absolutely love this foundation.

My shade is “Medium,” which is with pink undertones but it also comes in a variety of shades with variety of undertones, so you will definitely find a perfect match for your skin.

This is a medium to full coverage foundation. It will cover heavy scars or acne marks if you have them flawlessly. It is a coarse powder but it is also very silky to touch and application of it is very easy. You can use any normal dense kabuki brush or bare minerals own Flawless application face brush which is what I use. You need to follow a precise application technique to get the optimal results.

The technique being that you take little foundation out in the cap, a little goes a long way with this. Since it is full coverage, if you take a lot of product in one go, it will look very powdery. You swirl the brush in the product and tap the brush to get rid of excess powder on the brush. Then, you buff the foundation in circular motion. The more you buff, the better it looks. It makes your pores disappear and gives you even skin tone and it just makes the skin glow in a healthy and beautiful way.

My skin type is very dry and it gets flaky sometimes, but this foundation did not accentuate my dryness. It also has SPF which is a bonus. It is fragrance free and non-comedogenic which means it will not clog pores. It feels extremely lightweight and it does not feel or look like you are wearing makeup, has a very natural-looking finish. Staying power is really good, 5-6 hours without touch-ups and I have even worn in blistering heat with me sweating profusely and this foundation still managed to look great after that. Also, it has never broken out my skin, no issues whatsoever and my skin is looking more and more healthier since I started using this.

The only thing I do not like about this product is the packaging. It is not the most travel friendly container.  As in the bag, excessive amount of shaking or flipping makes a lot of product come out of the holes and the moment you open the cap, it’s a big mess.

Cons of bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15:

• Packaging is not travel friendly, but I think this is the best they can do with the type of powdery foundation it is.
