My Experience with bareMinerals Ready To Go Complexion Perfection Palette:

As I have mentioned before, I am a huge fan of the Bare minerals Original Foundation which I have reviewed on IMBB. In my opinion, it is the best foundation out there in the market. The only thing I do not like about that foundation is that it is a loose powder foundation hence not the most travel friendly. Thankfully, Bare minerals also has these foundations and the Mineral Veil which I have used and love in the pressed form. Since I plan to do a lot of travelling in the coming month, I decided to get this palette as it has 5 different products in one highly travel-friendly set and if you love one particular item from this set, it’s also available separately.  Hence, this will be a review of 5 products in one post.  So let’s get started, shall we?

Packaging:

The packaging is what initially attracted me to get this set in the first place. It has everything you need to do your full face makeup, easily on the go. If you just have this palette with you and nothing else, you are guaranteed to look flawless anywhere.

It is a very sleek and not a very thick case with a zipper closure. It fits easily and discreetly in most normal-sized purses. When opened, it has a nice sized mirror with the words “Hello Gorgeous” over it.  Talk about building up your self esteem :D. It has 5 products and 2 brushes inside. It has a plastic protector over the product which I usually keep on it when not in use as it helps the product not get over the makeup case and getting it dirty when you close.  It also has a holder for you to keep your favorite lipstick or lip gloss which in my case is my Urban decay Naked Lip Gloss, also reviewed here.

Now, let’s talk about the products individually:

Foundation:

This is a pressed version of the bareMinerals Original Foundation, but I was disappointed to see that it does not provide the same coverage as the loose version, which was a serious full coverage foundation. I would say this foundation does provide medium coverage which is good enough for me. I can build it up to full coverage too but then it just starts to look very heavy, powdery and cakey.  Also, I did notice that it does stick to my dry patches and accentuate them, hence it is very important to moisturize properly before using this. Overall, it does provide a very good natural-looking finish. Skin does not feel heavy at all or feels like it has any makeup on it. Skin does look very fresh and radiant from within.  Staying power of the foundation is very good. It stays looking good for 6+ hours on me. My skin does start to get a little oily and shiny by the end of the day, and that is when this next product comes handy.

Touch Up Veil:

Touch up veil is a pressed version of the bareMinerals Mineral Veil.  It is an almost invisible translucent powder which can be used as a setting powder as it helps control shine and gives skin a glow-y fresh appearance.  Touch up veil can even be used before makeup to absorb excess oil which helps to provide a good base for makeup which is a very good feature for oily skinned beauties. But for me, I use it as a setting powder all over my face and especially in my under eye where I tend to get the most shiny. It helps those areas stay shine free and looking fresh for 3-4 hours. If you do not have very oily skin like me, you can get by with just using this once or twice in the whole day whenever touch up is required.

Bronzer:

This bronzer is not very deep or too dark for my skin.  It’s not dark enough to contour but it can be used on the spots where the sun would normally hit the face to give a warm sun-kissed look to face. Since there is no blush provided in this kit, I did try to use this as my blush, but I had to apply it with a very strong hand as the color wouldn’t show up as much as a blush would do. It does blend very well with my skin tone and gives it a glow but does not provide much color to my cheeks.  Since I am on a mission to use only this kit to do my whole face makeup, I did use this bronzer as an eyeshadow too. I used this to add some color to my outer V and crease and added the next product which is the luminizer all over the lid and voila! got the perfect natural and beautiful looking eyes.

Luminizer:

This luminizer has a very good amount of shimmer to it. Though they are not too gritty, they are still visible when applied. It does provide a nice highlight and glow when I apply it over my cheeks, the bridge of my nose and my cupids bow. The only con with this product is that it does accentuate my pores. I do not have very prominent big or open pore issue, but I still think this product makes them look very prominent. But this can be solved if a good pore filling primer is used underneath the makeup.  As I mentioned above, I even use this as an eye shadow and use it in my inner corners of the eye to brighten up the area.

Concealer:

I love the fact that the concealer has a little lift up lid on it which helps the product from not drying out and also helps to protect it from the fallout from all the other powders.  The concealer is very creamy and blends every easily without tugging.  I use my fingers to apply this and it has a good coverage too. I do have heavy dark circles and this product does an okay job of covering them up. I say “okay” job because usually I need a very heavy duty concealer for my circles but for those of you who do not have such heavy dark circles, you will find this product to be good enough for you. I also use this anywhere I have blemish or redness and it does an amazing job to hide those. I do use the touch up veil to set this concealer or else it starts to look shiny and greasy by the end of the day.

Brushes:

There are two brushes provided with this kit which are the precision face brush and the tapered face brush.  The precision face brush is good for giving a more concentrated application and heavier coverage of the foundation, but I use the tapered brush for blending the foundation out and for everything else from applying the bronzer, luminizer and the touch up veil.  The brushes are of good size for travel and work very well with the products provided and they are very soft. They are not prickly at all and I have not noticed any shedding from both of these brushes.

Another good part about this palette is that when you run out of these products, you can just slide the tray out and the makeup case is yours to keep for holding your other makeup stuff for your future travels.

Overall, I am very pleased with this set. I am definitely taking this with me on my next trip. I do feel the $50 price tag is justified for the 5+ products provided. I will recommend this to all of you.
