Hope all of you are doing fine! Wish you all a very Happy Onam and Eid also. I am also excited for October which is the opening month for a lot of festivities. With God’s grace, we have observed Goddess Durga pooja, jagrata and reception in our nearby temple on the second day of navratre. I am already growing impatient and excited as I always dreamt of doing “mata ki chowki” in US and finally my dream is coming true, Jai Mata Di! Anyway, I am also excited to share my love for this blushing mauve shade “Swag” from the newly0launched Bare Minerals Gen Nude Liquid Lip Color collection. I already shared my views on the shade “Cookie” from this range, so let’s talk about Bare Minerals Gen Nude Swag Matte Liquid Lipcolor today!
$18 for 0.13 Fl Oz, excludes shipping and tax.
What it is: A long-wearing, moisturizing, full-coverage, cream-to-matte lip color in a range of statement-making nude shades for all skin tones.
What it does: When it comes to the nude lip, there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all color. Meet the next generation of nude: this next-level Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor is a long-wearing, cream-to-matte color with a lightweight, non-tacky texture. Formulated with moisturizing ingredients to counteract dryness, this lip color glides on silky smooth and provides a subtle, vanilla scent. The flexible paddle applicator delivers full coverage in one sweep. For best results, wait 10 minutes before eating or drinking to allow the color to set.
My Experience with bareMinerals Swag Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip Color:
This liquid lipstick comes in a transparent, sturdy plastic tube packaging with twist-on cap attached to a soft sponge paddle applicator. As I have mentioned earlier too, the usp of this product is that sweet chocolate fragrance which is not overpowering yet lingers on for a few minutes. It is a travel-friendly product.
The shade “Swag” is defined as a blushing mauve shade which seems true to its description as it comes out a muted rosy mauve on my pale skin tone. I can see that it has a tendency to appear washed out on tanned/medium skin tones with yellow undertones as it often looks washed out on my dull tanned face at times. However, it would look totally flattering on most Indian fair/light/pale beauties with or without full face and/or eye makeup. Personally, I love wearing it with full-on face makeup as it goes well with fully contoured and highlighted makeup; not to forge smoky eye makeup.
Coming over to the texture, it has a semi-wet mousse kind of texture, like most liquid lipsticks we see in the market minus the dryness and tacky feel. I mean it imparts a creamy matte finish on lips with no drying and/or tacky feel unlike most liquid lipsticks. Oh yes, it glides effortlessly on my dry lips without setting into lip lines or sitting on dry patches, simply imparting smooth, light-weight, semi-creamy matte finish on lips. I love the fact that it does not dry up onto stain completely and sits comfortably on lips for decent amount of hours. It does take considerable time to dry up into a semi-wet stain which can be a pain though.
Like I personally find it tricky at times to wait for long 10 minutes before it dries into a budge-proof finish (not completely though) that too when it does transfers mildly and may budge or fade away with oily meals and/or slight touch of fingers or anything on lips. Nevertheless, I can live with a few disappointments considering the fact that it does not emphasize dry lips further. It imparts a smooth, and even tone coverage with full color payoff in minimal swipes without looking cakey or streaky unlike matte lip colors. Moreover, I get soft and smooth lips throughout the wear time which makes it suitable for women with pigmented lips as well. However, it does not seem to last more than 6-7 hours on my lips as it mildly transfers and often fades away post heavy oily meal or snack time.
Overall, I still find it better than most matte finish liquid lipsticks I own so far especially for hydrating and comfortable formula, non-streaky/non-cakey finish and price of course. I will pick up more shades from this range though, I would definitely recommend this liquid lipstick to every beauty.

- Suitable for most Indian fair/light or paler skin tones.
- Lightweight, creamy matte texture.
- Does not dry completely on lips.
- Maintains non-tacky and smooth finish.
- Neither overtly drying nor overtly creamy in formula.
- Imparts full color payoff in 1-2 swipes.
- Does not settle into lip lines or dry patches.
- Does not emphasize or aggravate lip issues.
- Sits comfortably on the lips for good 6-7 hours.
- Quite an user friendly and travel-friendly product.
Cons of bareMinerals Swag Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lip Color:
- Take 10 minutes to dry up on lips not completely though.
- This shade may wash out most tanned/medium skin tone gals with yellow/olive undertones.
- Deeper pigmented lips may require a few more swipes to get smooth, pigmented finish.
- Transfers a bit.
- Fades away with oily snacks or meals.
- Staying power could have been better.
Despite the cons, I like it and believe that it is pretty price worthy and a quality deal. Personally, I am still not quite into the n*de lipstick trend, but I know gals following this trend will go ga-ga over these hydrating, non-tacky and pigmented n*de shades.
I will rate it 4.5/5!
