I am a huge fan of bareMinerals products and had purchased a few items from this brand in my recent Ulta haul. This review will be on the bareMinerals Well-Rested Eye Brightener Broad Spectrum SPF 20.
This eye-brightening shadow base is a favorite among the sleep-deprived for its ability to magically diminish the morning-drowsiness that results from too little sleep or a long day’s journey. Well-Rested works as a beautiful, eye-brightening shadow base, and can also be used to brighten dark shadows around the eyes, nose, lips and anywhere you feel you need an extra pick-me-up. (0.07 oz).
My Experience with bareMinerals Well-Rested Eye Brightener:
Packaging: Comes in a small tub packaging, just like most minerals loose powders. I like how this product has a screw shifter inside which means there will be no accidental mess even if you travel with this.
Texture: This powder is very smooth and finely milled. It buffs effortlessly and does not feel too powdery or chalky. You can use any sort of dense buffer brush to apply it with heavy coverage or with a wispy brush if you want a lighter coverage. I use my Real Techniques Setting Brush and sweep this powder back and forth under my eye to apply.
Coverage: This product delivers medium to full coverage without looking cakey. I have genetic dark circles that usually require heavy duty full coverage concealers. On days that I want to look natural yet awake, I use only this product and it effectively reduces the darkness under my eyes to a remarkable degree, but not completely. I find that if I use this product over a corrector (I love using my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Corrector) and top it with this powder, it sets the creamy product, taking it to full coverage without feeling heavy. You need not pair this powder with another concealer (unless your intention is to use it as a light dusting to set it) as it delivers incredible coverage on its own.
Shade and Finish: This shade, “Well Rested” is a pale yellow-based ivory color. It indeed brightens up the area where it is applied which is why I love using this on my under eye to give it a “well rested” appearance 😛 This product comes in only one shade which I don’t see suiting all skin tones, especially those with deeper dusky skin tones as it will make you look ashy. For those with light-medium skin tones, this would work great. Light-medium skin tones can use this as a brightening/highlighting powder whereas very fair/pale skin tones can even use this as an all-over setting powder.
The finish this product gives is mostly matte. When used with a creamy product, it sets and takes away all the shine. You can use this product as a concealer and eye base to neutralize darkness or even as a matte highlight for the face.
Staying Power: This product has good staying power. I have very oily eye area and it is the first area on my face to get oily when I wear makeup. This product keeps my eye area shine-free for up to 6 hours. It does not crease or settle into fine lines provided it’s not applied too heavily. I love the fact that it has SPF 20, hence also provides sun protection.
Overall, I love this product. I have loved bareMinerals Original Mineral Foundation for years now and this concealer is taking the place right next to it. I will recommend this!
