My Experience with Bath and Body Works Be Joyful Body Lotion:
Starting with the packaging – Bath and Body Works Be Joyful body lotion comes in a transparent plastic bottle. The bottle has a push top cap. The bottle is sturdy, but huge to be carried along during travels. This fragrance comes in a travel size as well. The packaging is simpler as compared to the other fragrances that I have reviewed recently. It has a simple bow ribbon graphic on a glittery background. The shiny red cap makes the bottle look rich and luxe.
The consistency of the body lotion is medium, neither very thick nor liquid-y. It spreads well and gets absorbed easily into the skin. The lotion does not leave my skin greasy but very smooth, moisturized and hydrated. Bath and Body Works claims that the body lotion provides moisture for 16 hours and it does keep my dry skin hydrated for the whole day without making it greasy at all.
The body lotion contains moisture rich ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, glycerin, aloe and Bath and Body Works’ exclusive complex of Vitamin E and B5 which protect and condition the skin. With the goodness of so many ingredients, the bad part is that it contains parabens as well. 🙁 It is high time that Bath and Body Works should reconstruct their formulation and stop using parabens.
The fragrance of “Be Joyful” range is also sweet. The top notes start with Clementine, Melon and mango fragrances; however, I can smell mango and melon, but cannot trace clementine at all. BBW states that mid notes are flowery, however, I can smell just a little bit of jasmine. I am not aware of honeysuckle fragrance so really cannot say anything about it. Dry notes are Dulce de Leche which is a sweet made from milk or condensed milk, Golden Amber and Shimmering Sugar. And the fragrance is definitely sweet – sugary, but not like some mithai. 😛 It does have amber scent and is sensual and delicate. Though I do not like sweet fragrances very much, but this fragrance kind of grew on me 😉
Pros of Bath and Body Works Be Joyful Body Lotion:
- Beautiful, simple packaging.
- Non-greasy texture.
- Gets absorbed quickly.
- Cruelty free, BBW does not test on animals.
- Contains moisture-rich ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, glycerin and aloe.
- Travel size version is also available.
Cons of Bath and Body Works Be Joyful Body Lotion:
- Contains parabens.
- Fragrance does not stay for long.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Bath and Body Works Be Joyful Body Lotion?
I like the fragrance as it somehow grows on you. But even after using the body lotion along with the shower gel and fragrance mist, the fragrance does not stay for more than 3 hours or so. I would have repurchased this for sure if the scent would have stayed longer.
