Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion – Lavender Vanilla

Hi Everyone,

I am finally back from my work trip and boy, am I glad to be home! I barely got the chance to open IMBB this past week and I was feeling like something was amiss! I got in yesterday evening and one of the first things I did after the usual unpacking and settling down was to open IMBB and go through the posts, yay!I was amazed to realize that IMBB has now become a part of my homesickness 😛

Coming on to the review, I am going to review the Bath and Body Works Sleep Body Lotion – Lavender Vanilla.

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion Lavender Vanilla

Price:

I got this as one of those 3 for $10 schemes, so this one is roughly $3.50 for 59 ml. Otherwise, they are $5 each.

Product Description:

Relax before sleep. Lavender essential oil soothes and calms so you can sleep better. Vanilla Absolute helps to calm feelings of stress that can keep you from falling asleep.  This is a part of their Aromatherapy range that also includes other lotions like Lavender Chamomile, Orange Ginger, and other such exotic stuff for energy, stress relief, etc.

Ingredients:

See for yourself.

Sleep Body Lotion 2

Packaging:

I picked up the travel size bottle that is made of opaque bright blue plastic. It looks really nice and classy with the blue, white, and black combination.  The cap is no frill plastic flip-top which is what I love about BBW products.

Sleep Body Lotion 1

My Experience with Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion – Lavender Vanilla:

One of the reasons I literally pounced on this product was because it is supposed to help you sleep. I am a borderline insomniac and just can’t fall asleep at normal hours (I don’t get to sleep before 2 or 3 am and get up around 7.30). Yes, yes, I hear you whenyou say 7 hours of sleep is essential for making you healthy, wealthy, beautiful, and what not – so yes, my insomniac tendencies have been worrying me for a while and I am trying different methods to help me sleep early.

So, I picked this up and can’t say that it really does what it claims as far as inducing sleep is concerned. I have used this regularly for quite a few months now, and it has not helped me sleep early. So, minus one for that, I would say.

Swatch:

Sleep Body Lotion 4

Coming on to the texture, it is neither very runny nor very thick whitish lotion. It gets easily absorbed into the skin and does make skin very soft and supple. When I wake up in the morning, my skin feels really nice and plump without the usual stickiness.

The fragrance is my favorite thing about this product though. It has a very strong lavender cum vanilla fragrance – more lavender than vanilla methinks. The fragrance stays on my skin for a really long time, more than the other BBW lotions. I think that’s probably because it is a part of their “Aromatherapy” range.

Sleep Body Lotion 3

Pros of Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion – Lavender Vanilla:

  • Gorgeous fragrance that is pretty strong and stays for a really long time, especially when applied on moist skin.
  • The fragrance does have a very calming effect.
  • I love the packaging with the flip-top cap and gorgeous electric blue-colored bottle.
  • Available in both travel and normal sizes.
  • The texture of this lotion is just right – neither too creamy nor too runny.
  • It helps to moisturize skin really well and keeps it soft and supple.
  • I don’t experience any stickiness or oiliness after using this, so that’s a plus for me.
  • Gets absorbed very easily.

Cons of Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Body Lotion – Lavender Vanilla:

  • Does not really induce sleep – maybe it would for people who are not borderline insomniacs like me. So, for me, it fails the most important test that would have differentiated it from the other BBW body lotions range.
  • It contains parabens and the ingredients list is pretty long which is kind of scary.

IMBB Rating:

3/5.

Overall Verdict:

I like the fragrance because of which I like it, but a product that fails the main claim that is supposed to be its USP may not be worth repurchasing. It’s like ‘THE’ boy telling you he would love you all his life and then doesn’t do so after marriage no? ;P
