Today I’d like to review a product that’s long been in my stash and I’ve used well. It’s Be a Bombshell lip crayon in the shade Hot Damn. I bought this on an impulse, since I’ve heard various good things about this brand and I was obsessed with collecting all sorts of lip crayons. Read on to see how this fared.
I can’t seem to find the ingredients listed anywhere. (BOO!)
Formula: A glossy lip crayon with a smooth texture.
Bombshell Application: Apply to top and bottom lips for full coverage. For sheer coverage, apply to lower lip only and blot lips together. For more color, apply several coats until you receive desired results.
Bombshell Tip: Start applying lip crayon in the middle of your mouth and blend outward, stopping just short of the edge to prevent bleeding and make lips appear fuller.
My Experience with Be a Bombshell Hot Damn Lip Crayon:
The lip crayon comes in a twist up tube packaging. The product can be twisted all the way up and back down. It’s a matte black with a see through cap, so you can see what colour you’re picking. The bottom denotes the shade name. The black tube is good, but the cap has cracks from prolonged use.
The product itself has no particular fragrance or taste. Coming to the texture, it is completely matte, no shimmer or gloss. It looks matte on my lips as well. The shade in the crayon is a bright red, but it comes off as slightly sheer on my lips. It comes off as a nice warm red from fair to medium to deep skin tones. It can easily be built up for more coverage, but as you tend to layer it on it might cause more dryness. It does not accentuate lines despite being a matte crayon. It transfers very little.
Despite some of these cons, I love this shade. It can be worn as a muted, sheer red and I can wear this even with heavy eye make up. It stays on for about 3-4 hours with light snacking, but does not survive a meal. If I want to give it a less matte finish, I layer it on top of a non-glossy lip balm like EOS or Body Shop hemp lip balm, which reduces the wear time to about 2 hours and transfers a bit more.
Pros of Be a Bombshell Hot Damn Lip Crayon:
- Nice warm red that would suit everyone.
- Can be worn sheer, as well as built up.
- Does not transfer much.
- Last up to 4 hours.
- No fragrance or taste.
- Does not accentuate fine lines.
- Can be layered.
Cons of Be a Bombshell Hot Damn Lip Crayon:
- Flimsy packaging.
- No ingredients.
- Unreasonable price for this kind of packaging.
- Drying when layered on.
Well, in conclusion, I am not 100% happy with this. While it’s a decent product, paying $14 for average packaging and not very pigmented colour is not a good deal. I mean, for a few dollars more I can get a good high end red lipstick/crayon. Even if they had good packaging I would have given a better review, but sadly that’s not the case. I can’t even include it in the category of sheer, but hydrating lip crayons as it’s matte. So I don’t quite know where it falls. It would definitely not be my top pick in any list. That being said, since I paid money for it, I have used it several times and I have made it work for myself, but it is not something I would urge anyone to get.
Would I repurchase Be a Bombshell Hot Damn Lip Crayon?
Nope, I have tons of product left and will definitely toss this soon.
Would I recommend Be a Bombshell Hot Damn Lip Crayon?
No, there are a lot of great reds at this price and even lower.
