Beauty Benefits of Oatmeal

The all purpose cleanser that works for me!

BEAUTY BENEFITS OF OATMEAL

I came to know about the true benefits of oatmeal through youtube.  I was excited to try it because that girl had such beautiful skin and this stuff is all natural. So, I tried it and I completely loved the results. So, I had to share this with all of you.

It will help both oily and dry-skinned women. You may especially experience the wow effect if you have sensitive, acne-prone skin like me, which tends to go dry, red and itchy on its whims and fancies.

Benefits of Oatmeal:

The following are the benefits of oatmeal:

1.  It is anti-inflammatory. So, if you have redness along with dry and itchy skin, this could be your new best friend as it reduces redness and makes the complexion more toned and even.
2.  It is truly all in one cleanser.  It cleans, moisturizes, soothes and protects the skin. It helps heal the skin after exposure to the sun. When used as a skin cleanser, it actually absorbs and removes surface dirt and impurities while providing very gentle exfoliation, leaving skin smooth, soft, and clean, without soap.
3.  For those with skin irritations that have been caused as a result of using other cosmetic products or have been exposed to chemicals present in some cleaning products, then you should consider using oatmeal. This natural treatment method is also useful for people who have excessively scrubbed their skin. It cleanses deep pores without drying out or irritating the skin.
4. Oatmeal baths are highly recommended to people with acne. This is because of the soothing properties of oatmeal that provide relief and enhance the effectives of various skin medications.

How I Wash My Face with Oatmeal:

I keep my oatmeal in a plastic jar in my bathroom near my sink. After splashing water on my face, I take some oatmeal in my closed fist and run a little water on it, giving it time to soak it, exactly as directed in the youtube video.

Once it gets damp, I rub it in my palm and apply it in a circular motion on my face and neck. I then keep it on till I finish brushing my teeth and then wash it off.

I follow it up with my FabIndia Green Tea Moisturizer or Cetaphil moisturizing lotion. I notice that my skin tone is much more even and there are no oily and dry patches on the face. My skin feels less irritated or itchy and I have noticed that my breakouts have almost gone after I began using this.

Homemade skin cleanser with oatmeal

To really maximize the benefits of this natural treatment at night, I follow up the oatmeal face wash with extra virgin olive oil. My skin loves all this natural stuff and is soft, glowing and pimple free. I don’t think I ever want to go back to a commercial cleanser again. This is 100% natural and extremely effective.

The only con maybe that it can be a bit messy and may get stuck in your hair on a bad day, but hey, if you are a little bit thorough with this every day, your skin will really thank you for years to come and the great part is that it doesn’t clog my sink! It drains out very nicely as you can see in the picture after I have cleaned my hand.

There are also many face packs that will do your skin a whole lot of good. My skin is looking good as it is, so I haven’t really played with oatmeal face packs that much, but to cut the long story short, you can mix it with a range of things like honey, yogurt and milk et al.

  7. @all, FYI – a lot of ppl use cooked oatmeal also and i read some results on the net which suggest that you cook the oatmeal for 3 min, let it cool and apply with another substance like honey etc. That is suppose to work really well too.

  8. Hey shivani.. gud article… :thanks: im washing my face with oatmeal for 2months nw.. I too can see the skin texture improving well. I use it for my sun burnt handfs as well.. for face, i use it with lime, honey and for hands i add little milk to the mixture.. it really really bring u tht glow n doesnt leave u dry at all.. Kinda like it adds tht healthy non oily shine to ur face.. its gud for blemishes. it helps me keep it at bay if i use it regularly. :yahoo:

  9. hi..unfortunately I am one of those for whom oatmeal didnt suit. I had panicked a few weeks ago when i applied oatmeal + water paste to my face and my face turned out all red. I think Sukanya helped me out and i was so relieved, but after reading this article, i am wondering if was becos I used the oatmeal powder that Banjaras makes. Perhaps, if i had used the normal one at home, it might not have given me problems. :methinks: :methinks:
