Difference Between Sunscreen and Sunblock

Sunscreen ‘screens’ the sun rays which are falling on your skin and thereby lets some of the ultraviolet rays to get through. Sunblock ‘blocks’ all the sun rays falling on you and thereby deflects all the ultraviolet rays. Sunscreen is in a little more liquid form and hence can be applied easily whereas sunblock is a little thicker (because of the presence of Zinc Oxide) and is hard to spread. Use sunscreen where you need normal day-to-day protection from the sun. If your skin is sensitive or aging and you need a complete anti-aging protection from sunrays, use a sunblock. Use sunblocks for infants playing in the sun. Remember that sunscreen can be washed off easily whereas it is harder to wash off a sunblock. If you are going for a swim and you want your sun protection to stay, use a sunblock. And you will not have to reapply. If you are going to apply a sunscreen, remember to apply it nearly half an hour before going for a swim in order to let it dry. Also you will have to reapply at regular intervals if you are going into water. Remember, if you are going to choose a sunscreen, always choose a ‘broad spectrum’ sunscreen. This will screen both UVA and UVB rays.
