My Experience with BeautyBay.com Blending Sponge:

After the launch of the BeautyBlender and it taking the Beauty world by storm, the market has been flooded with its dupes – similar shape, similar colour, but do they work as effectively – that’s debatable. My BeautyBay.com blending sponge is bright fuchsia in color, they are available in a number of bright colours.

BeautyBay.com Blending Sponge

It is slightly larger than the BeautyBlender and feels much much harder than the BeautyBlender. When soaked in water, it increases in size slightly, doesn’t really become double. It still feels hard and rubbery. You take the product and apply it with the Blending sponge, you are able to transfer and apply the product adequately onto your skin. However, the sponge feels hard against your skin. It does not blend as effectively and takes a bit of work to make the application look smooth.

BeautyBay.com Blending Sponge

It feels more like an applicator which is transferring the product onto your face but not really something which is readily blending it. You have to spend time and effort in blending the product using this sponge

Cleaning it was fairly easy, I use the BeautyBlender Solid for cleaning it. It removes all product buildup and stains away from the blender.

I would place it as something definitely better than the Forever21 sponges, but still nowhere close to the iconic Beauty Blender.

Pros of BeautyBay.com Blending Sponge:

  • Lovely colors, looks pretty.
  • Able to achieve a decent application with a little more time.
  • Easy to travel with.

Cons of BeautyBay.com Blending Sponge:

  • Texture still feels hard and rubbery, nowhere as soft as a BeautyBlender.
  • Does not blend the product readily, you have to invest extra time to blend blend blend.

IMBB Rating:

Yes, a 3/5 product.

Do I Recommend BeautyBay.com Blending Sponge?

Not really. It gives no joy in makeup application – unlike the BeautyBlender, which is a pleasure to use. I think one can put a little more money and buy a BeautyBlender. Alternatively, pick up the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, that’s still a decent dupe for the BeautyBlender.
