Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle – Watermelon/Moonstone Review

Hello Lovely Ladies,

I have been experimenting a lot with different highlighters and Becca’s Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle is a unique product, which is a mix of highlighter and a blush (tint).  I had reviewed the Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle in the shade “Papaya/Topaz.” Strangely, I missed sharing this one. So, here goes:

Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle Watermelon Moonstone

Product Description:
What it is:  A four-in-one air-whipped soufflé formula that adds a flush of color to cheeks.

What it does:  This lightweight formula packs four must-have qualities into one formula: a powder to add a pop of color, a stain to give staying power, an illuminating highlighter, and a cream to deliver a flawless finish. Water-resistant, each pot combines Becca’s bestselling Beach Tint with a Shimmering Skin Perfector™ for effortlessly buildable, complexion-enhancing color, soothing hydration, and a youthful glow.  It is formulated without parabens, sulfates.

The soufflé is made by pulverizing Beach Tint and Shimmering Skin Perfector pigments and pearls into an ultra-fine powder, which is then combined with a proprietary blend of liquids, and whipped into a delicate soufflé.

Ingredients:
Brown Algae Extract: Hydrates soothes, and reduces redness.

Suggested Usage:

  • Apply with a brush for a wash of color or with your fingers for a more intense pop of color.
  • This sheer, luminous blush is easily buildable for customizable color.
  • For best results, pair the Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé with The One Perfecting Brush.

Price:
$27 for 5.7 gm.

Packaging:  The product comes packaged in a small glass container with a metal cap – it’s about the same size as a Dior cream eye shadow or MAC Chromaline. In short, it’s a minimalistic packaging with only 5.7 gm. And in this case, a little doesn’t really go a long way – so for once, if you use it regularly, you can easily finish the product.

My Experience with Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle – Watermelon/Moonstone:

As I had mentioned in my previous review of the product, Becca has these amazing shimmering skin perfectors – highlighting products available in liquid, powder and cream form.  Equally renowned are their beach tints – waterproof blush stains.  So, they decided to put them together in this interesting product where they have paired each of their beach tints with a corresponding shimmering skin perfector. So, the shade “Watermelon” is from their beach tint and Moonstone is the shimmering skin perfector.

Texture:  The product isn’t thick and creamy – instead it’s a lightweight, sponge-y, airy, whipped, souffle kind of texture, so the name is very apt. The colour and the highlighter create a lovely melange of colours.

Shade:  Described by Becca as a “coral red infused with pale gold,” the resultant color is a pinkish coral with a lovely golden sheen. It translates into a lovely natural-looking glow on the cheeks which is very easy to wear and flattering.

This shade could easily be the neutral shade an office goer could pop into her handbag for a quick application on the run. It would look flattering on a good base or even with no base makeup. With this shade, it’s difficult to overdo. Once blended, it looks just so natural. The highlighting component adds to the natural glow, but does not emphasize pores.

Pigmentation: The colour is buildable, it can be layered to show up more prominently. However, you can’t really get the shade in the pot, it isn’t that buildable. Also note, that for the shade to build, you do need more and more product. A little does not go a long way.

In my opinion, this would look lovely on fair to medium skin tones. For reference, I am NC30 in MAC. I feel that anyone with NC42 and above will have a problem with the pigmentation. It would probably not show up.

Application: I apply the product with my fingers. My MAC #187 or the Beautyblender – both can’t reach into the pot. The product is cream and lightweight. However, once applied, it sets to a powdery finish. It goes on very smoothly and blends easily.

Staying Power:  The wear time of the product is amazing, it is like a stain! It lasted on my skin for good 8 hours or so, pretty much the entire day.

Pros of Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle – Watermelon/Moonstone:

  • Interesting pinkish coral with a golden sheen.
  • Soft, sponge-y, airy, and lightweight texture.
  • Buildable.
  • Amazing staying power.
  • Did not emphasize pores despite the shimmer.
  • Blends easily.
  • The color can be made to look so subtle or more pronounced.
  • Did not break me out.
  • Easily portable packaging.
  • Water resistant.
  • Free from parabens and sulphates.
  • Supposed to contain Brown Algae Extract which hydrates, soothes, and reduces redness.

Cons of Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle – Watermelon/Moonstone:

  • Non-availability in India.
  • Seems like very little product for the price, it’s as small as a cream eyeshadow pot!
  • Will not show up on darker skin tones.

IMBB Rating:
4.9/5

As I have mentioned in my previous review, Becca claims this to be a 4-in-one product – “packs four must-have qualities into one formula: a powder to add a pop of color, a stain to give staying power, an illuminating highlighter, and a cream to deliver a flawless finish.” And the product delivers on all counts. I love how convenient it is and how portable it is. You just dab it on in a jiffy and move on; no brush needed and it blends so effortlessly. The only bit which irks is that the pigmentation isn’t good enough for it to show up on darker skin tones. The colour in the pot does not really translate to the colour on the skin.
