Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Review

Hello everyone,

Today, I bring to you a renowned product in the highlighting department. This review will be on the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed aka the queen of the highlights, in the shade “Opal.”

Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed

Product Description:
A creamy powder highlighter that absorbs and reflects light for the ultimate natural glow.

What it does:
Find refined luminosity in any light. This best-selling formula is enriched with ultra-fine luminescent pearls that absorb, reflect, and refract light so your natural radiance is never lost. Unlike the traditional pressed powder method which simply mixes and compresses dry ingredients, this unique process blends pigments with proprietary liquid binders, resulting in unparalleled, creamy application with balanced color dispersion. Like a compact full of crushed gemstones, the multi-toned, ultra-fine pigment pearls adjust to your skin’s natural undertones for a truly unique glow.  It is formulated without parabens.

My Experience with Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed:

I do own and have been so thoroughly impressed with Becca highlights. I have the liquid version as well as the pressed version of the shade “Moonstone” along with other shades but this is my first Becca highlight in the pressed version.

Packaging:  Comes in a standard rubberized “Becca” packaging which does tend to attract dust and residue makeup from fingers. The cap does close very securely with a click and there is a nice-sized mirror inside. There is no applicator provided.

Texture:  These Becca highlights are incredibly smooth and silky. The shimmer does not yield a gritty feeling. They are easy to apply and do not go on patchy or uneven.

Pigmentation: Out of all the 3 Becca shimmering skin perfector versions I own of the shade “Opal,” I find the powder version is the most pigmented, yielding more opaque coverage and sheen than the other two versions. The liquid is best for the most natural-looking glow and to mix into your other cream of liquid product. The poured and the pressed version look fairly similar on the skin and the only difference is the method of application which can be selected as per your preference. I feel that oily skin might like using a powder whereas dry skin might like the emollient formula of the poured version more.

But undeniably out of all 3 versions, the powder is by far the easiest to use. You just have to have the right kind of brush which is not too densely packed and the right amount of wispy feel and you can achieve a goddess glow within a few seconds. I prefer using my Real Techniques Setting Brush for this purpose as it is the right size to highlight my cheekbones and my nose with precision.

Shade:  The shade “Opal” is described as a golden opal pearl. It has the slightest bit of a champagne rosy undertone and I do feel it will complement light-medium and even dusky skin tones very well. I do prefer Moonstone a tad bit more (because my skin leans more toward light) than Opal mainly because it is a shade lighter and has much more of a pale gold sheen as opposed to the slightly champagne rosiness imparted by Opal, but Opal is perfect for summer days when I am more tanned.

There is no visible chunky shimmer, but it does impart a “drop dead gorgeous” sheen on the skin. It is very pigmented hence a light hand is required or you will glow like a light bulb (in the best way possible).

Staying Power:  The staying power is impressive. It stayed put for 6 hours before I noticed slight fading, but the sheen was still very much visible by the end of an 8-hour day for me.

Overall, Becca products, especially her highlights never ever disappoint and this is no exception. If you love to glow, you have to have this in your life!

In the swatch picture, I have topped it over a matte blush, so all the glow you see is coming from this product.

Pros of Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed:

  • Adds glow to the skin.
  • No chunky shimmer.
  • Does not actuate pores or cling to dry patches.
  • Smooth and silky texture.
  • Very good pigmentation.
  • A good pick for light-medium skin tones, but will look perfect on medium-dusky skin too.
  • Best highlight in the market.
  • Good staying power.

Cons of Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed:

  • The sheen it can yield is intense and eye catching, so if you prefer a more natural look, I suggest you look into the liquid version of the product, but this is not a con for me.
  • I am not a fan of the rubberized packaging which gets dirty quickly.
