Becca Sunlit Bronzer Ipanema Sun Review

Hey gorgeous gals,

After sharing so many lipstick reviews, it’s time to check out some face products. Today’s review is on a bronzer from Becca and it’s the “Sunlit Bronzer, which is available as a single in a compact and also in their “Sunchaser Palette.”

Becca Sunlit Bronzer Ipanema Sun

Product Description:
A bronzer that is inspired by sun-drenched destinations for a sun-kissed glow. With a shade for every skintone, this neutral bronzer imparts healthy-looking warmth so that skin looks sunkissed—never orange. Each beach-inspired bronzer features Becca’s iconic Shimmering Skin Perfector formula that’s custom-made with subtle shimmer, and it blends pigments with liquids to deliver its unparalleled, creamy feel. The powder’s silky texture lets you customize your glow—go from subtly sunkissed to a just-stepped-off-the-beach bronze. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates. Ipanema Sun: The medium auburn brown hue is inspired by the sun-drenched shores of Ipanema to give medium-to-dark skin tones a healthy-looking, golden glow.  Becca is and will remain a cruelty-free company. They do not test their products on animals, and will continue to hold true to this principle.
Suggested Usage:
Sweep bronzer across the face where the sun would naturally kiss the skin, or apply below the cheekbones, to the bridge of the nose, and around the borders of the face.

My Experience with Becca Sunlit Bronzer Ipanema Sun:

Becca has 5 variants in their “Sunlit Bronzer” range with each variant named after a location. Ipanema is located in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This variant is the second darkest variant in the range.

Packaging: I have it as part of the Sunchaser Palette which has an extremely sleek packaging – quite like their “Blushed with Light” palette. I absolutely adore “Blushed with Light” palette – so, thought of trying this one too. The palette is made of hard plastic but very lightweight; yes, lightweight but not cheap feeling. It consists of three powder products placed in a line – a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter. There is a good size (full length of the palette) mirror. The only thing missing is a luxury feeling velvet pouch and it would be perfect! The plastic compact has concurring theme on the outside – as is inside the palette – shade variating from dark to light.

Shade: The shade “Ipanema” is described by the brand as a medium auburn brown. To me, it is a medium to dark brown with warm golden-orange undertones and a satin sheen. In the pan, it looks as if it has shimmer in it, but it doesn’t. The shade is actually a satin finish. I am still experimenting with bronzers and do not have a HG product to compare it with. I do find the bronzer a tad bit too golden-orange for my taste. I think it would work excellently for someone with medium to slightly dark skin tone. The golden hue should look very flattering on a deeper skin tone. Having said that, I do enjoy using this as a blush – with our without the addition of the actual blush shade in the palette.

Texture: The texture is quite refined but firmly packed. When I say firmly – I do not mean that it is hard to pick on the brush. Instead, I mean to emphasize that it does not kick up any dust or feel crumbly to touch. It feels quite like a traditional powder product. It is smooth, easily blend-able, but does not have a creamy feel that certain powder products have nowadays. It applies easily and blends out smoothly without going patchy or the colour sticking to the first point of application. The shade blended into the skin and melted into it very nicely.

Pigmentation: Pigmentation is a good. It is distinct and yet can be blended out smoothly into the skin. It does not highlight the appearance of texture and the open pores present on my skin.

Longevity: The product gave excellent wear. I got about 8-9 hours of wear with the shade.

Pros of Becca Sunlit Bronzer Ipanema Sun:

  • Finely milled, smooth texture.
  • Easily blendable.
  • Would work beautifully for someone with medium to slightly deeper skin tone.
  • Works well for me as a blush shade.
  • Lasts well on my combination/oily face.
  • Efficient and functional packaging.
  • Did not break me out.
  • There is no chakiness or “powdery-ness.”
  • Easy to travel with.
  • Good pigmentation.

Cons of Becca Sunlit Bronzer Ipanema Sun:

  • Nothing at all.

IMBB Rating:

4/5

Would I Repurchase Becca Sunlit Bronzer Ipanema Sun?

I never knew why people liked shades like MAC Coppertone or MAC Gingerly, etc. Having used this blush, I realize how  flattering the shade can look by providing subtle definition.

Is it a must have? As an individual pan – I don’t think so – it depends on what shade you generally find flattering on your skin tone.
As a palette – I think it is good value for money because not only do you get to try 3 varied products which can help you complete the look; the combinations that one can derive by mixing these shades together – are practically infinite! Which would make for some excellent experimentation and play.
