My Experience with Belif Hydra Sebum Control Essence:

The light-weight lotion comes in a sturdy and opaque white bottle packaging with pump dispenser opening. I like the concept of fitting in a little cap at the opening to prevent any accidental spillage. It does have a mild medicinal sweet fragrance which is barely noticeable. Overall, I liked the hygienic and travel-friendly concept with the incorporation of a small cap at the end of the dispenser opening, though, I prefer putting it in a cardboard packaging further for secure travelling plans.

So, they call it a sebum control essence and I find it as a hybrid between moisturiser and serum. It provides intense hydration like a rich moisturiser without being heavier or greasier as it absorbs easily into the skin and it settles into a matte finish. And as they claim, the light-weight lotion provides a moist and cooling sensation on the skin while damping or massaging gently. It absorbs completely into super clean and dry skin.

I like how it feels super light on my skin without leaving any dewy finish with a refined skin texture and complexion as well. Now, don’t get it wrong when I say it settles into a matte finish, as it works equally well in treating dry patches and dryness on the skin apart from keeping the oil at bay! I usually had a notion that products which absorb faster are not very hydrating for my skin but, this lotion completely changed my perception. It usually dries into a powdery matte finish without accentuating or emphasising dry skin patches and/or skin texture.

In fact with regular usage, I can feel my skin is smooth and feel less flaky than before. It never aggravated or irritated my acne prone–sensitive skin in these weeks of usage. And, I never felt a need of layering it on with hydrating products as it alone takes care of all my skin concerns except the fact that it lacks an SPF. Hence, I can certainly vouch for its results on super oily, combination skin type but, dry skin beauties might need additional moisture boost to see the results considering it is a light-weight serum-lotion after all.

Moreover, I find it perfect for using beneath the makeup for it provides much-needed hydration to my skin yet matte finish at the same time. I am hopeful that it will work equally well in summers for my skin type as it does not feel as rich or heavy on my skin as other hydrating products I have used so far. This is by far the best discovery for me this year from “Belif”. I would love to count it among my staple skincare products for years. I would definitely recommend this essence to beauties with oily, combination skin type provided you are fine with the price which does seem on the high-end side.
