How are you doing today? We all are excited about upcoming festive season. Now, we will finally get to wear our Indian attire and dance to the tunes of those desi dandiya songs. Yay! Anyway, I am also here to share my latest purchase with you all, which happens to be my first purchase from the brand ‘Belif’. I had heard a lot about this Korean brand from fellow school mums and finally decided to try it myself. While I like it for its interesting list of ingredients and the results, I do have one major concern with this product. Let’s talk in detail about it!
What it is:
An oil-free moisturizer that controls oil, refines pores, and leaves skin hydrated and smooth.
What it is formulated to do:
This formula is a unique blend of time-tested apothecary herbs, including rosehip, a powerful vitamin-C packed ingredient. The fresh, lightweight texture controls oil and refines pores while providing hydration for a smooth, supple, and fresh feel.
$38 for 4.22 fl oz, excludes shipping and taxes
My Experience with Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh:
Well, the moisturizer comes in simple, opaque, white plastic bottle packaging with a pump dispenser opening. While I miss the safety cap, it does have an additional small cling attached to the mouth of the pump dispenser to check accidental leakage. It also covers the opening of the bottle for hygiene concerns. But, once we lose that small thing, the whole idea of user friendly & travel friendly packaging needs to be re-evaluated. It does have a mild fragrance which is fine with me.
Anyway, other than the packaging, I am quite happy with the product; though I do have my share of concerns which seem overpowering at times. The moisturizer seems gel based, light-weight, translucent white lotion that easily spreads on my skin and gets absorbed instantly, leaving no oily or dewy feel behind. I need 2-3 pumps for my face & neck and gives me well hydrated skin all day long. Apart from this, it also takes care of dry patches and uneven skin texture up to a good extent. But, I am more concerned about my oily skin which gets oilier after 3-4 hours of applying this moisturizer on my skin.
This is something strange because I never get shine on my face before 5-6 hours with any basic moisturizer that too with a dab of face powder. But with this Belif moisturizer, even my oil free face powder fails to give me desired results as I start noticing shine on my t-zone and cheeks by the end of the 3rd hour. However, other than this, I am pretty impressed to see how it worked on my uneven texture throughout our trip.
I was suffering from dry patches on my cheeks other than clogged pores and it not only cleared my complexion by clearing those uneven patches and maintaining my even skin texture, but also helped me with clogged pores. I won’t call it a very deep cleansing impact, though it still was relieving as compared to my bareMinerals cleanser which failed tremendously in this aspect.
Yes, it did help me refine my pores and made them look visibly unnoticeable for few hours if followed with my new poreless powder. It needs to be a little more effective in controlling shine to become my HG moisturizer for summers. Sadly, I cannot bear shine on my face even though I know this moisturizer is so effective for other concerns. I will definitely recommend this to normal, combination and dry skinned beauties for its real good results against dry, flaky skin. It will definitely help you get even skin tone and skin texture with dewy feel which is workable for any combination, normal skin type, but not for oily skin beauties.
Still, I am looking forward to using it in winters as I need an effective treatment against dryness, uneven skin texture for winter. Also, since my skin becomes less oily by fall, I am hoping for some good experiences with this product, though it is a serious skip for summers.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh:
• A lightweight, gel based moisturizer formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates
• It easily spreads on my skin with no oily residue behind; just fresh, hydrated skin all day long with 2-3 pumps of lotion
• It did clear my skin texture by clearing dry patches on my skin apart from cleaning pores
• It also helped my skin against seasonal changes and minor dryness
• It is also effective in cleaning clogged pores up to some extent and helps in refining skin texture with regular usage
• It does not accentuate or aggravate our oily, acne prone skin by any chance
• It did not irritate my dry, weird sensitive skin
• Quite effective in combating ill effects of dehydration, cold weather and/or irregular skin care schedule
Cons of Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh:
• Tricky packaging
• It does not help with controlling oil
• It might not be effective for the first signs of ageing
• It does have few chemicals which might bother sensitive skin type
Well, honestly, I feel it is quite a reasonable alternative for our oily skin concerns, if only it was slightly better in controlling shine. Still, I am using it at bedtime for treating my uneven skin texture, and it is helping my concern greatly. I will definitely recommend it to normal, combination skinned beauties, while oily skinned beauties might like it in winters.
